YAY what a wonderful end to a long week:

I got into work after a doctor’s appointment, and found the entire firm (lawyers in robes and all.....whoa!) waiting for me with cake, cookies, treats, speeches, cards, and lovely good wishes.

Such great kindness.

Then an amazing thing happened: a few years ago, one of our young lawyers was going through a cancer scare, and was quite afraid about what she may have to do to deal with it.

I gave her my copy of Eleanor Roosevelt’s writing on “fear” (text further below), thinking maybe it would help her. I’ve kept it in my wallet for years.

Anyhow, they had all gone together and bought a warm, snuggly blanket for me to take into the hospital. THEY EMBROIDERED THE POEM ONTO THE BLANKET!

I lost it then and there. Whew. That was hard. I read it to them out loud and had a really hard time getting through it. So we all had a good cry and then binged on cake.

So it turns out I found my ZEN at the office after all!

The last thing I did tonight on the way home was cut off all my hair. I know they’re only going to shave part of it, but from the memories of last time, it never grows in right unless you just cut it all off. That sure makes it real….

Oh my goodness gosh I realized the fourteenth had come and gone and there is so much news since then. I''m so sorry to hear your pain hasn''t yet stopped but I was really touched by your last day of work before the surgery. You have managed to deal with all of this with such strength and humor, you are truly an amazing person! I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your husband and wish you all the courage in the world as you go into surgery Monday. UPDATE: my surgery has been moved to 1st thing Tueday morning. I was third in a line of 3 procedures booked on Monday, and the neurosurg thought it would be best to slide mine over into the next day.

I''m really pleased with this. With so many things are going on, I was beginning to wonder how I was going to find quiet time with sweet DH and the furkids. Now we get to hang out all day Monday, and just have to be at the hospital tuesday really early in the morning.

Sorry for the confusion, but please don''t get yourselves stressed out on Monday: I''ll be kicking back with my teapot!

Hi everybody.

Well, the chores are all done....laundry, tidying up, making up beds, grooming the furkids, etc etc.

Today we had a magical brunch out in the country in a restaurant surrounded by frozen waterfalls, snowflakes, roaring fires, yummy food and each other. It was perfect.

So, my nails are off (yuck yuck yuck), hair is cut off, pedicure done, I have new jammies and slippers, and I think the only thing left to do is tweezer my eyebrows...STILL hate the hair but it will grow back.

OMG: what was I thinking???? THE BLING HAS TO GO INTO THE SAFE! (those of you who know the origin of my forum name would understand this little thing!)

The pain is excruciating today.

In a way, that''s a good thing. Yesterday it wasn''t so bad and I was second-guessing myself. Again.

I''m really tired. I hope you''ll stay with me another 36 hours or so. Thanks
