LOVED my dress just this afternoon when I bought it, now I''m not so sure.

I bought my dress today! I felt so pretty in it and I thought it would be great for my NYE wedding, now seeing the pics it doesn''t look exactly like it looked to me in person. I feel like I look chunkier in the pictures and in person I thought it made me look a little slimmer than I am and gave me a great figure. What do you guys think?

back

First off, I love the back!

To me, the front seems really busy but if that''s the look you''re going for (fun, sassy, a little funky, hip) then I think it could work. It does emphasize your curves, but I don''t think that''s a bad thing.

My only concern with a dress like that would be to make sure that you are wearing it rather than the dress wearing you. If you have the attitude to pull it off, though, I say go for it! Especially for a fun and slightly crazy NYE wedding.

Pictures always make us thicker!

I really love it on you! The back is gorgeous, and like lady pirate said it emphasizes your curves, in a good way

you look so cute and flirty, btw

When I saw the pictures of me in my dress I almost had a heart attack. I looked WAY fatter than I remembered :P

It''s just the picture though.

And honestly, that dress looks great on you!!!

You don''t look chunky-you look sassy and spunky.

I think the dress is lovely!
The pleated waist is elegant and the flowy-ruffly skirt adds a ball-gown feel without being too poofy.

I think you look fantastic.

Stepcut, its gorgeous!

Pictures do always come out a little off; they''ll be much, much nicer when you''re all dolled up and standing next to the hubs on NYE and not in a bridal shop.

So NOT chunky! You look gorgeous! I love the dress and I love it on you!

Don''t stress at all, you made a great choice! You are going to make a beautiful bride!

Aww. Such sweet and reassuring comments. Thank you!

The dress fits like it was made for you.

Beautiful dress and awesome attitude (in the photo). You''ll look stunningon your wedding day

I think it looks beautiful on you and is very slimming. It tapers in at the waist and has that gorgeous top and flouncy bottom. Perfect!

I had that same problem. I fell lin love with a dress. I didn''t buy it, but when I got home and looked at the pictures I HATED it. I cried

I think this looks great on you though. We are always so harsh on ourselves though aren''t we? I think it''s fun and sassy!

I think it looks amazing on you! I think we all tend to focus on "X" feature that we hate, but I think it looks very flattering and beautiful.

Hey There!

The same thing pretty much happened to me. I felt like a princess, so I ordered my gown which was a last minute chagne of heart (I thoguth I was going to get another one.)

Then when my MOH emailed me the pictures the next day I was like HUH - is that what I really look l like? I just feel like I look kind of large in general.

You and I look like we might be around the same size.....I have a feeling too that no matter what dress you have on, you may look at the pictures and feel chunky no matter what (I know I do).

This was my wakeup call to start dieting, for real, and to stop procrastinating. I have been putting it off BIG TIME - but I only have 6 months and time is running out!

I started taking ALLI last week, Wednesday and it''s already WORKING! Down 3 pounds already!

And BTW - I LOVE the dress and I think its gorgeous on you!
I love the detail on the bust and it makes your waist tiny!

Sweetie - it looks AMAZING on you - that happens to be one of my favorite dresses from DB! I think is whimzy and perfect for a NYE wedding :)

Thanks for all the compliments! They are very reassuring!

PS-Its an Alfred Angelo Violet. Does DB have one similar?

ETA-Yes pushing 40 the pics are a great motivation to lose weight! I have a little over 6 months. 12/31/10.

No, no, no - i just mixed up the makers - totally meant AA (silly me) :)

On another note, did we ever get a proper thread about your ering? i don't remember seeing the finished product on you and i have been anxiously waiting!!!

No proper thread yet! I keep waiting for 2.0 to happen. I feel like I''ve been waiting forever for it! It''s a beauty though! Me being Miss Anti 3-stone never would have thought I''d find "the one" in a 3-stone, but I adore it.

Will you lose a lot of money if you have to take it back? You have to do what makes you feel fabulous. If you're not sure and it won't cost you a bunch, what's the harm in continuing to look.

Like everyone else says, tho, I love the way the back looks!

I would lose half of the dress''s cost, which is way too much for me to take a hit on. I love the dress. I feel pretty in it. It''s my dress. I just feel like I look fat in the pictures. I am fat so that shouldn''t come as a surprise but in the dress in the 3 way mirrors which are usually not my friend I felt like I looked thinner and prettier, so when I saw the pictures it was a real let down.

Meh, then don''t worry about it. AND YOU ARE NOT FAT! Maybe curvy, possibly rubenesque, BUT NOT FAT!!!

We all wantt to look our best. And we will!!! Remember too that with the hair, the makeup, the vail - its the whole package and you will look FABULOUS!

Lose some weight with me - I need a buddy. Time for me to get past my 41 year weight struggle!! I KNEW I would feel fat on dress buying day....and it has motivated me!

Remember - 10 pounds can make a HUGE difference and we can start with short term goals! (Also remmeber that the camera adds 10 pounds.)

LET''S DO IT! What do you say? No matter what, losigngeven just a little will make you FEEL great! You will LOOK graet no matter what!

I love it on you. The back is really pretty and the fact that it is NYE makes the whole thing perfect. Right now, you don''t have the emphasis on your face and hair that you will have then. The eye will be drawn to that, and you will look even slimmer.

Girl, you look BEAUTIFUL and HAPPY. That''s what I see when I look at these pictures. A happy, fun, sassy, gorgeous woman that I want to hang out with!

But I know how it is - we''re our own harshest critics, and I know I see something vastly different than my friends see when we look at the same picture of ourselves. So if you need to do it for YOU to be happy and enjoy looking at your pictures, go for it. We''ll support you.

If all of us looked like we think we look in pictures no one would venture out of the house.
You will look like Cinderella with no pumpkin at midnight.

Can''t wait to see how you will accessorize

first of all, the dress is gorgeous in general & on you specifically, so don''t worry about that. i think most brides have a bit of a shock once they see the photos of themselves in the dress at the salon. sometimes it''s as easy as bad lighting & bad angle or a sample dress that is not altered for your body yet. the dress is perfect for NYE wedding & i love, love, love the skirts layers. now, if you want more waist definition, you could possibly alter to some sort of sweetheart neckline (maybe? not sure it''s possible on that dress) then you''d have a point down from the bust of the dress & up from the waist of the dress, causing more of an hourglass illusion. (again, i''m no seamstress or designer, this was just a thought.) but either way, the dress is beautiful & stop second guessing yourself!!

It''s the angle of the picture - your photographer isn''t going to be shooting in an up angle like that.
