M VS2 1.65CT OEC Diamond Ring Question

I have been looking at this ring for the diamond for a couple days. But I don't know anything about color. Do you think this diamond would really dark as a solitaire? It's not too expensive but I'm worried I may not like the color. I've seen M and L color stones on here and thought they were beautiful. But unsure about this on. Any critique would be a great help. Also is this an OEC? Or something else? Thanks for any help you can give me.

It definitely looks like an OEC, and quite a pretty one if I'm not mistaken. If you could add more photos, especially directly from the front, that would be helpful.

In terms of color, hard to say. Who graded it as M? It is set in white gold, while the rest of the ring is yellow gold, right?

Have you seen this in real life, or is it an online stone?

Hi GemFever! No just the photos from eBay. Here is one more from the front. I thought it was set in white gold too. But my DH says it set in YG and I'm blind. What do you think?

Charmed, I think it's white gold. I downloaded one of the images and edited a bit in Lightroom to make the background appear more naturally white (I think it's white plastic, so it shouldn't be that yellow). I think with that tweak, the square part looks whiter because of how it contrasts with the yellow gold. I actually really like the look of the stone, but I may be sleepy and not seeing things right. Or maybe it's just a nice stone

I think the stone is likely more tinted than an M. On that site most sellers exaggerate by at least a fe color grades and when they admit "M" color its more tinted. But you never know. It has some girdle reflection or fish eye (see the slightly golden circle just inside the outer table edge?). I can't tell which. Unset without all that gold by the girdle it could look ok -- the gold color is reflecting around the periphery of the table so without the gold it might be less apparent. Or simply faceting the girdle could clear it up. Maybe a nice pendant stone without any clean up.

I think the auction will end low because the setting in nasty and the diamond tinted. Good potential there.

Thanks gals. I really wanted it for a ring and talked back and forth with the seller. I wish I had have asked for a buy it now then because he seemed like he was happy with $1200. But I think I'll let it go because the bidder with (1) one feedback outbids anyone that bids right away. But lesson learned for the future, it can't hurt to ask. I am just worried I won't like the color and like Dreamer said the gold ring in the diamond photo, does concern me.

The key is to never bid until the last couple of seconds. Bidding early just causes people like the one you mention to bid up the item. There'll be others even if this isn't "the one", though!

I'm looking for a cheap brown-toned oec for a RG pendant project, so I was going to bid on it... but it's already above my max bid!!!

It looks nice and would probably be fine in a pendant, but my guess for color is probably O-P, not M.

Agreed DS, I don't know why people bid early on auctions like that. It's annoying.

Fortekitty, I think it would have been nice as a pendant too. But that 1 feedback bidder messed it up. I wish you could have won it.
