macro picture of diamond

Wow, fabulous cutting and this isn't a small sized FCD either!

Thanks Chrono, it's too difficult and expensive to get a high intensity blue diamond.
I'm happy enough to have this one. :)

This is a better picture of the pear shape pink diamond in the first post.
This is a 0.18c fancy purple pink, lovely color.
I found purple pink are usually more attractive than purplish pink.

I love that blue.
You were lucky to find such an asscher.

The two pears are lovely.
Much nicer pic of the yellow.

The dark the pink picked up looks like reflections of what's in front of it.

Cutting a hole in some white cardboard or styrofoam may help.
Make the hole the same size as the lens so it stays on with friction.

Thanks, Kenny.
Still need more practice. :)

That purplish pink radiant is stunning!
Kee, I'm so impressed with your photography skills!

Thanks. :D
I'm inspired by Kenny's photos actually, you should see his post as well. Those pictures showed expert skills. ;)

Oh, much better pics - I can see the yellow colouration of the pear now and the purple pink needs a better picture. It's picking up a dark reflection from somewhere, likely your camera itself.

Kee these ARE lovely photos.
I'm very impressed with all the work, trouble and expense you've gone through with your photography equipment, not to mention your fantastic FCD collection.

I hope all my detailed responses are not taken the wrong way by you or any readers.
I DO get carried away with my passion.
I don't know when to shut up; in fact I can't.
I could see someone thinking, "Who the hell does Kenny think he is?", "What a frikken know it all!", "Kenny's never satisfied, but always bragging and showing off!", "There Kenny goes again shoving all this down our throats," or "Gimme a break, This is NOT a photography forum!"

It's just that top-drawer macro pics of gems, while not easy, are not rocket science.
Anyone could do it.
If you take a determined and logical approach of problem solving, instead of, "Oh that's good enough" or "I don't have the skills" there is no end to what kind of macro pics you can achieve.

And as you progress your diamonds look better and better.
Rather, the photography-related reasons that pics degrade FCDs' appearance fall away one by one and you are left with pictures that approach the thrill of seeing FCDs live.

As Kee keeps trying (which I hope he does), I get to continue feasting my eyes on his gorgeous FCD collection.

The pink emerald !!! :)
Emerald cut is the best shape in FCD in my opinion. :D

Lovely! The pesky shadows have to go though.

Thanks.
About the shadows, probably the camera is too close and reflect some darkness from it.
I'll try Kenny's suggestion later and see the result. :))

Fancy vivid purple pink radiant
this is not an argyle diamond but the color is beautiful

Wow, these are gorgeous.
The emerald cut is my favorite shape for FCDs too.
Small diamonds benefit from those large bold flashes of fire.

Is that a reflection of the girdle inscription just to the left of the culet?

Beautiful collection; thank you for sharing them with us.

Kenny,
You have a sharp eye. It sure does look like a girdle inscription reflection.

Here are some more diamonds in my collections. :D
I've almost shown up all now. :?
I think those diamonds can be more beautiful when taken in different angle, but these are the best shots I can take till now.

The greenish blue round is very captivating! Of course, the rest are no slouch either.

Wow, I really admire your collection of fancy colored diamonds.

That 0.18 Greenish Blue round has such a sweet tropical color.
It reminds me of a cocktail I had in Hawaii with an umbrella in it. ;))
I did not know the Argyle mine produces any diamonds with any green in them.

Do you have plans to set any of your FCDs in jewelry?

Thanks.
Yes, I did make one of the stone into a ring.
The others I just keep them for time being.

This is a very nice setting, this picture actually bring me into the color diamond world. :wink2:
The one on the left side is my favourite, probably need a 0.5c deep pink as centre stone.

So...aren't you going to share the picture of your one set FCD? :naughty:

Kenny - I have trouble imagining anyone here thinking like that. We are all in such awe of your photography skills and we all directly benefit from the results! All these gorgeous photos!

I continue to wish that my FCDs could come and visit you for a photo shoot (especially the vivids)!

Kee - thanks for the pictures, you have some gorgeous stones! And now some skookum camera equipment too!

What a wonderful collection!
My newly arrived pear (well, just a humble stone in front of your beauties) wanna say hello!

Anzu, cool diamond.
I'll bet it's very sparkly.

Periwinklegirl, thanks. :wavey:

hi Anzu
nice stone, thanks for sharing with us.
it's great to share photos among FCD lovers :appl:

Thanks Kenny and Kee.
Those sparking stones are very interesting, especially with touch of colors ;)

Kee, please keep posting for macro shots with your new gears. I'm too lazy to use my dslr lately, just using a Ricoh GX200/GXR for shooting. Your Fujifilm is a nice camera, wish you enjoy Fuji colors. Happy shooting!
