Mahenge garnet take two

I also have a LOT of trouble photographing my stones. The color seems to shift with the light, and it’s difficult to get the facets to light up the way they do in real life. I love garnets and am fascinated by the different colors and varieties.

With colored stones, the pricing is highly dependent on color and clarity. You will pay a premium for both. Yours is a large size and it looks great on you. I wouldn’t worry about the price you paid as long as you like the color in the light you will usually be wearing the ring in. (Sun, shade, fluorescent, etc.)

Enjoy your beautiful garnet!

Thank you for your comments and advice! It does look nice in all the types of lighting I’ve seen it in so far. It reminds me of a hot-pink disco ball. I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one that has difficulty photographing gems.

I think it is a beautiful color! Just beautiful! You pay for what you personally want. So it might not be fair price or a deal in someone else's eyes, but if it is exactly the color/shade/saturation you want it be, it is worth the price. Some people are really picky with finding the exact shade of color of a stone they want (me) so I say if you love it, keep it. If you don't, return it.

Thank you! I do love the color, and I agree that price is just one factor to consider.

I love it. The price does seem high for a garnet but if you can’t find another one that you like as much then you end up with no garnet so if you can handle the price then just enjoy it.

Thank you! I plan on keeping it. I don’t know if I ever will find one I like as well in the size I need, and I did end up getting a discount.

It's absolutely gorgeous - what a great find! Congratulations
