Alright everyone. I am not used to wearing a lot of makeup. The pic of me in my "starting to feel real" thread is about the most makeup I normally wear. So I am a little unsure about wearing so much. So I need your honest opinions about this makeup trial. Is this too "made up" looking? Or does it look okay on film? Please be brutally honest. This is an area where I really have no clue. Please excuse the weird smile with raised eyebrow.

the first one is in natural light with no flash. This second one is in artificial light with flash.

I wear minimal make-up as well so I know how you feel but I honestly don''t think you are wearing too much make-up. How exciting to have your trial done!!!

You look beautiful. The only thing I might change is a lighter shade of the lipstick. You really are not made up all that much as your cheeks and eyes are very neutral and natural looking. I think that a lipstick that is darker than your comfort level could be skewing your view. Try maybe one shade lighter and see if it helps.

OMG you are so pretty! I think the look is great and looks good on you with your darker hair/eyes, etc. I am also not a dark lipstick (really not a lipstick girl at all) person and when I wear darker colors since I am not used to it I feel more self concious. I agree, maybe try a different lighter shade and see how you feel.

KY6, first of all, you are beautiful!

I do agree with others, though, I''d tone down the lip color. I think the rest looks very natural, and your pics will be great. I think the only thing I would suggest is maybe going with more liner or mascara on your eyes to really make them pop! It looks like your makeup artist went with a more accentuated lip and toned down eye, whereas I would do the opposite--I have big brown eyes as well and shorter, thinner lashes so I really played up my eyes and toned down the lips for my big day. You have great, full, lips so you really don''t need a darker color unless you want it...IMO! Hope this helps!

I don''t think it''s too much. But I do think it looks way better w/o flash... for some reason w/flash the foundation seems a bit... I don''t know, pasty looking? Maybe it''s just the fact that the skin on your neck doesn''t match your face... and it''s way close up.

I have heard that certain makeup is better for photography, something about reflection of the makeup or something, I can''t remember exactly.

You look beautiful. I agree with others that your makeup is very natural except for the lips. But I think you look great with that color lipstick; you wear it very well. But if you want an overall natural look, then try a lighter shade.

You look great! I do see what the other poster says about the foundation though. Maybe mention it to your artist and show them these pictures to let them know what you mean. I think the lip color looks fine, but it''s up to you. One thing you may want to consider adding is some false eye lashes. They really make your eyes pop and look great in photographs.

I think you look BEAUTIFUL! Very natural and not too made up at all! I even like the lipstick...it seems to be a different color in the first picture, which could be because there was no flash? In anycase, you look gorgeous!

I think its gorgeous! You look so pretty. I don''t think its too much at all, very natural and sophisticated looking. Not a big fan of the lipstick, but it looks good on you. I would probably prefer something a tad lighter though.

I know I''m in the minority here, but I think you look GORGEOUS in the "starting to feel real" thread, and therefore don''t need all this makeup! For my wedding I did my own makeup because I wanted to look like me, not a made up version of me. I wore no base makeup, a little loose translucent powder, a nude stain with clear chapstick, and light pink and brown eyeshadow with a little brown eyeliner, and waterproof mascara. That was it. And my pictures came out really good! The best part was I didn''t have to worry about my makeup for the entire night!

Now, I have to say that you look pretty in the photos in this thread. But, you look radiant, real, and beautiful in your other thread. Is there any way you can show the makeup artist how you normally look and have her make you look more like that? If not, why not save some money and do your own makeup? Just a thought!

You''re going to look great no matter what you decide, but why not look more like yourself?

First of all, you''re gorgeous! That smile is a knockout.

Secondly, do you feel comfortable with the makeup? I barely wear makeup on an everyday basis, so I know how you feel. I think that if your skin is pretty even, you might feel more comfortable skipping most of the foundation. That''s just me talking, though...I hate, hate hate foundation! Perhaps just some concealer and powder, with some natural looking blush. The lip color is nice, though...do you like it?

You look great!

The only things I would suggest would be a smoky liner for your eyes, to really make them stand out, and a lighter shade for the lips. I would probably go with gloss vs. lipstick, which is giving you the more matte look. I usually prefer something a little lighter. Maybe you could go with just a lighter shade of gloss? Those are the only changes I would make....

Yayyy!!! How exciting for you! I think you look gorgeous as is.

My main rule of thumb to avoid wearing too much makeup is: if you''re going to wear heavy eye make-up, then go lighter on the lips and vice versa. Heavy/dark lipstick....go lighter on eyes... eg..minimal eyeshadow/none or minimal/no eyeliner. But, always wear mascara!!! So, I say that you did wonderfully....just my 2c.

While I''m generally a heavier eye make-up, lighter lipstick gal, you have to keep the tear-factor in mind on your wedding day. My eyes itch from the water-proof stuff, so that''s out of the question for me....your lipstick shouldn''t smear from tears though, and is definitely much easier to maintain.

You look lovely! I think you should try a different lip stick color. I think a soft glossy pink may work well for you.

You look absolutely beautiful. I actually like the lipstick-- it''s a good color for you. But maybe blend it with a lighter shade that you would normally wear? That way it will still look the same but be less imposing.

I really like it. It looks very natural and fresh.

You look wonderful!! But I also agree that you look radiant in your staring to feel real thread. I wear makeup about ummmm..... once a year. So putting all that makeup on (for me) was just crazy. But I looked completely different and I actually really loved that look. After all, this is my day, a day not to look like I do every other day. A day to be a diva, a princess and a goddess. So I think you look lovely. If you are uncomfortable with the lipstick, tone it down with a more natural color. I have to agree about your eyes.. they are huge and fabulous, dress them up a bit for your bit day!!

But if you like it.. that is all that matters. I think you are beautiful!

I think you look beautiful!! You have such beautiful eyes; I would try to bring them in focus a little more and go a bit easier on the lipstick.

No matter what you do, you are so pretty! You will definitely shine.

Thanks everyone for the honest feedback. I also got the sense that the lips were a little too much when looking at these pics. I think what was also weird for me was the heavy feel of the makeup (also after a several hours it still looked great from a distance, but it was starting to settle in to my skin weird). But I think she really did a great job of evening out my skin tone. I was thinking about having her do the bridal portrait session (since that''s when I suspect their will be more close-ups and the makeup will not need to last 10 hours) and go a little more natural for the big day....we''ll see. Thanks again for your feedback.

Oh, also...what''s lip stain? Where do you get it?

I agree with the others....

You have such "happy" eyes that really shine. I would play them up a bit more. Just maybe a bit more color in the shadow? I see the liner, etc, but color around eyelids seem so light. That could be the photo though.

I also vote for a lighter color on the lipstick, even though that color looks nice on you.

Re: what a few others said regarding the foundation...to me it just doesn''t look even, so have her play with that a bit. It looks more applied from the nose and cheeks down, but not one forehead.

I have had my makeup done for a BM before, and they put a lot of base makeup on me that I never wear. I have to admit, even though she did a nice job,the photos just looked a bit weird to me...just not very natural looking and not "me." I agree with the posters that said you look so beautiful natural!!!

You are beeeaauuutiful! Seriously, I would keep the lip color, but if it is darker than you usually wear- lighten it up with some natural (maybe a pink tint) lip gloss. I agree with the others- let''s kick up those eyes! Have you ever tried false eyelashes? My sister-in-law did for her wedding and it was gorgeous with some beautiful shadows and eyeliner!

I think you look great and it's definitely not too much makeup because in the photos, you'll look perfectly natural. But as a recent bride, I have to agree with the others--play up your eyes. They really stand out in photos. I didn't go with fake eyelashes because mine are super long but my makeup person used TONS of mascara and really curled the lashes which completely opened up my eyes. Also, I don't think the lipstick color looks bad on you at all but a lighter shade might be more manageable so you won't have to constantly reapply. I think you'd look great with a purplish/pink shimmery gloss. Also, if the foundation feels too heavy/pasty, ask your person if she uses airbrush makeup. That's what I had and it was so wonderfully light, it felt like I had no makeup on at all and left me looking very glowy. Have fun with it!!

I felt the same way when I had my makeup professionally done...to me it just felt like so much. But your''s looks really good, very natural, so don''t worry.

I went back and looked at the thread from your bridal shower and I like the pinkish color lipstick you were wearing in one of those pics (it was the one where you have two girlfriends on either side of you). I think the pinkish color is more *pretty* than the darker color in your trial.

You look beautiful! I think the makeup looks very pretty & natural. As for the lipstick, personally I love the red & think it looks very polished & elegant & you wear it well, but if it doesn''t feel like *you*, then maybe you should tone it down a bit. (Also, the red would wear off more quickly when you''re eating, kissing people, etc.) If you play up your eyes even more, then a more subtle shade of lipstick would be great.

Thanks everyone for first, your wonderful compliments, and second, all of your opinions and suggestions. I talked to the makeup artist about the foundation issues and she said that it is easy for her to fix. I also talked to her about changing the look a little. I am probably going to go with a toned down shade on the lips and see if we can play the eyes up a little more while keeping it earthy and natural on the shadow.

I really appreciate you all!

That sounds wonderful! Are you going to have another trial before the big day? If so, be sure to post pics!

exactly what i was thinking.

I think you look great! I know it feels like you''re wearing a ton of makeup but if you go sans makeup or with just an amount you use for everyday, it does NOT show up in the pictures!!! I think this look is very nice and natural looking and in no way overdone! You could even play up your eyes a little more. I like the lipstick but if it''s a little dark for you, something lighter would also look good I''m sure.
