Very, very nice! For the life of me, I can't figure out why for such a consistently lovely gemstone the price is not much higher per carat! I can't believe the price won't be increasing in the future - zircon is just too nice of a stone not to.
Yeah I wasn't expecting it to be this bright, considering how much it cost.

Nice zircon Niel, not too dark and not too light - just right!!!

Took this stone to the jeweler today and had them check it out. Settings choices are limited by the depth of the stone, 5mm!

This is a 7 x 5 mm unheated Lavender Sapphire with a depth of 5mm.

There is an inclusion that I can see from certain angles but it's not distracting and doesn't break the surface. The color is exactly what I'd hoped for. =) The dark you see in the stone outside is the metal of the stone holder showing, in real life it's a very sparkly stone. These are cell phone photos since my camera is broken.

Inside under artificial light, it looks purple until I hold it up to an amethyst geode and then it looks blue.

Sitting on my window sill, so natural light only.

Outside in a shaded area. In bright sunlight the stone appears to be blue. In the shade it's lavender.

Niel: your zircon looks even better in your photos than in Mastercut's! Nice stone.

Thanks. I'm trying to make sure they are close to what I'm seeing. I took them outside on a sunny day but under shade and /or while the sun tucked under a cloud. You can compare it with my k diamond ring and my very lovely silver grey spinel

I don't normally buy zircon as I haven't seen any that wow me at the local gem shows, but the color is so beautiful, it is like a beautiful tourmaline or apatite. It's making me rethink my plan for blue zircons. :wavey:

Thanks. I picked it based on the color and am pleased with it. Now I am trying to figure out a setting, the 5mm depth and my pocketbook are limiting me. And I keep going back and forth between different styles.

Sorry I didn't see your response earlier! I plan to set it in a ring oriented North South. I'd like to do a simple but interesting setting that keeps the focus on the colored stone. I think I'm down to 6 settings at this point. Some of them won't be able to accommodate the depth of this stone so that'll narrow things down.
