It's all a bit Byron-esque / Regency England to me. Sooner or later one of them is going to starve themselves to death while the other suffers from the vapors. The whole thing will be 'spiritually ecstatic', "achingly beautiful", and incredibly unhealthy. But - hey - so long as they don't drag anyone else into it, who am I to criticize?

Since it’s a colored gem alongside a large diamond, I just wanted to get everyone’s thoughts on this ring. As always, I’m very adverse to any stone softer than an 8, being an engagement ring. I also don’t care for the prong work, which to me, should be of Leon Mege quality on a celebrity designer custom ring. However, I think it’s a pretty ring set and I like the idea of magnets holding them together. The stones are beautiful and it definitely is part of that “moi et toi” trend taking over celebrity engagement rings.

The prong on the emerald point is really messed up.

I actually really love the ring - it’s not my aesthetic but it is beautiful. And it’s so unique and still delicate looking.

But to the part about it hurting to take off or whatever - that’s definitely blown out of proportion. He actually says something like “it’s a band of thorns” not “it’s phalanga dentata” (a la assault prevention device, a joke that is likely funny only to me lol). I believe the whole “internal thorns” thing was extrapolated by some media houses, whereas when you look at the rings, the bands look a bit like thorns and the whole “it hurts to take off” is just some cringey edgy stuff teenagers like to say.

The only way it’s going to hurt her to take it off is if she went for a ring a couple sizes too small. At which, Megan, honey, butter does wonders
