I was running an errand in another area of town I don't always go to and happened to walk by Adam Foster Jewelry, who I saw an ad for in a local magazine like three years ago or something that just was like whoa! and this time it was open when I was over there (I kept going past and it would be after hours!) so I stopped in and chatted and checked some stuff out. A few weeks ago I did that "Etsy Taste Test" thing and besides all the mens accessories that my tastes apparently matched, his jewelry was in there as well. I found that both cool and weird. I like super girly bling but I like mens wallets. Anyway... He is a young guy, and super nice and very well spoken. He does all custom stuff, and a lot of stuff for other outside sources, and his wall is covered in drawings and photos of finished pieces, like the start to finish of the whole thing. Just tons of em. It's SO NEAT. No branded stones, no branded settings. All his stuff. Sources what he needs by the project, will use your stone and will go over the stone with you to make sure if there are any chips you know of them, etc., make sure the report matches, etc. Isn't a "Report Snob" or anything, but likes a stone for what a stone is.
He has a small case with a few pieces, some of them are on his Etsy store site. Some of the stuff in another case is more cool art jewelry, and then the other case was "trendier" art stuff like skulls. I don't know if that's trendier in this case bec these are not my idea of trendy skulls. They were SO neat and "upscale". Something a really real rock star would commission. I think I saw two things that were on his portfolio on his site, but all the stuff he's done...not a lot is on his site. And they're with the customer, obviously, not in his shop. He's not a guy that replicates stuff he's done custom for someone else and just spits it out again, it's bespoke. He does his stone setting, pave and otherwise, at 200X magnification under microscope. I almost fell in love right there.
Anyway...we talked about my e-ring setting, and he checked it out with me under 200x mag, quickly confirmed some of the issues I have with it or saw going on with it under 30x and that the other jeweler we ordered it from mentioned as well, just closer up, and said that it IS safe to wear. So that was good. And fun. And alarming. lol
All in all a fun chat. He might be too avant garde design wise for the likes of my simple susie boring-a$$ taste but his work is freaking phenomenal, and above all, his QUALITY of workmanship...insane. Just wow. So maybe Ill change my design a little and go with something more art-driven! I say that like I have any money right now with this house project. I would bet pricewise he'll be a little higher than most we see around here though. MC2 range lol!
Here's his site, and his etsy site. I didn't take any photos of his shop at all, in part because I don't want his designs and drawings flying around, or any security issues. Adam, if you read this, great to meet you and thanks for your time!
