Metal color for this?

Not yellow gold...maybe rose gold?
I feel like a white metal would wash out the color too much.

My daughter just said she thinks white metal is best.

Thanks yes I was leaning toward rose gold at this point. I have usually been a white metal person but I agree it's not the best choice in this case.

Rose gold gets my vote too.

DK :))

Rose gold but I don't know enough about the 14K vs 18K as I have forgotten but there is a big difference and one would look better than the other. I seem to think @yssie created an entire thread on this topic so maybe search her posts or she will chime in here to give you good advice. Pretty stone whatever you end up doing with it I am sure it will be just beautiful

Some threads and links you might find helpful

I vote RG too.
I recently have a new ring in very light & subtle RG, very pretty color

Thank you so much for these linked threads, I was strongly considering rose gold but was wondering if maybe going with 18k would make it a little softer, less coppery I guess and therefore better for this stone which is a lilac color but has a lot of flashes of pink in natural light. The screenshot I posted doesn't really give the full picture of it's color but I knew I couldn't get a better photo myself

I'd do 14kt RG, so that you get a really nice and coppery colour going. Or a two toned setting - WG and RG (if you want no accent stones, perhaps something like a double bezel setting, where the inner bezel is RG and the outer is WG?)

I had the same thought! A rose gold bezel with platinum on the rest of the ring. I do favor platinum for my pieces though

Have you seen the black gold ring someone posted, made the color POP?

I think white metal would better highlight the color of the CS whereas RG would merge with the stone, so I would set the stone in white metal and have a RG shank.

Instead of guessing, do you have any white, yellow or rose gold jewelry?

Just place it next to the metal and see where it shines. I actually think rose gold could overpower the softer color but it just depends on how the stone behaves

I have a secret, I usually don't care for plated white metals. Platinum doesn't do much for me either.
But, for this stone, I would suggest an unplated white or palladium white gold.
A soft colored formulation of rose would be my second.
Grey gold would be a fun way to pop the color, as well.
You've got options!

I am actually leaning toward unplated white gold now

Yeah I do I just have no eye for colors or design whatsover so it's hard for me to tell. I am starting to think though that rose gold is not probably the best option for it and leaning toward sticking with white.

thank you to everyone for taking the time to chime in! I really have no eye for color or design so it's hard for me to visualize. Thank goodness I am better at my job than this lol!

18K (unplated) palladium white gold. A hint of brown for a nice contrast. Inken turned me on to it.

I always like the Rhodium finished white gold. After several years you may have to have it refinished, but this is a modest fee.

I agree as white gold is greyish at best.
Not so cheap any more!
The plating can stay on top around gems for years but will wear off the back of the band in months.

Last time and only time I had the ring refinished with Rhodium was about three or four years ago, it cost me $50.00. I had the ring well over 15 years before that. No problems. Looks great today.

I must admit though, I do not wear it everyday, but wear it it probably 50 times a year. So, someone who wears a Rhodium finish ring everyday may have more of a problem.
