I feel like this stone could work with any color metal! But RG gets my vote, simply because I'm always looking for ways to incorporate it (I love it that much). As others have stated, 14k will be more "pink" (higher copper content) and 18k will have a warmer, peachier look (higher yellow gold content). So I'm thinking 14k here. Have fun!!
thank you! I had started out thinking rose gold but like some others on this thread the designer I am discussing setting with thinks that rose gold will blend in with the color. The stone in person is a purple lilac with flashes of pink in natural light. So now I am moving toward unplated white gold
But I am also a rose gold person!
I really like the candlelit glow of unplated white gold! And I think it's a clever idea here... "white" to showcase the delicate color of the stone, but some "warmth" to avoid an overly icy look. I'm interested to see the result!!
My ruby ring and my wedding band are both unplated white gold. I find it has a slightly warmer look and I prefer it over plated white gold.
Oh lawd... this is a gothic beauty. I positively lurve it!!
