When my mom visited me this summer, we planned out her next jewelry present. It was supposed to be for her 50th birthday, but life got in the way and now it's a just because she's my mom present.
I originally was going to come up with a design I thought she'd like and set a fancy brownish orangy yellow pear into it. But, since she was here, I gave her the opportunity to choose any stone she wanted. She didn't choose what I thought she would LOL.
She chose a .67ct Namibian Demantoid, a 1.1ct spessartite garnet and a .53ct Argyle brown diamond.
We discussed what she wanted, drew out the design and brought it to the jeweler. The spess was too big to fit the design and my mom was ok with that because she really loved the demantoid and diamond best.
The wax guy scaled down the drawing to about an inch and had to readjust the position of the stones as they didn't fit the scale anymore. It totally worked out, and off to the caster it went
Enough talk, picture time
Original drawing
Stones she chose
Wax - this had the bail at the wrong end. Easily remedied and then was sent out to the caster
Finish pics in next post
