My absolute favourite color is peachy pink and ever since I saw a morganite ring years ago I've dreamt of having one.

I was looking at loose stones today thinking I could purchase a stone now and save up for the setting later. Eventually I'd love a beautiful floral antique setting in rose gold, something similar to Van Craeynest. I'm also open to buying a set of smaller stones for other future projects, like earrings, bracelet, or necklace.

These stones seem reasonably priced so I'm just wondering if they're a good deal or not. I tried to find ones with the most colour but the colouring is still very delicate.

Here's what I'm considering purchasing...

http://www.gemselect.com/morganite/morganite-353109.php (earrings or a custom design ring)
http://www.gemselect.com/morganite/morganite-351797.php (earrings or custom ring)
http://www.gemselect.com/morganite/morganite-337640.php (ring or pendant)
http://www.gemselect.com/morganite/morganite-326802.php (ring)

Do any of these stones seem worth the price and worth purchasing?

The color on these isn't totally blowing me away but these prices seem fine. Keep in mind that morganite can fade, you might want to look for something a bit more saturated?

Good to know! Yeah, most of the stones on this website are very very pale. Maybe I should just keep looking.

When I went to gemfair the guys selling morganite priced it at 9 dollars per carat. They had a lot of stones, most of them were included, let me put it this way, heavily included. Gemselect does not have great pictures. From couple of your links it is hard to say what kind of stone you will get.

I love the pale peachy pink color of morganite too (well, I am a beryl fan in general and prefer the lighter hues of blue and green). Since they are not too expensive though, why not wait till you have decided on the setting first?

I know they say stone first, but in your case, you have something specific in mind e.g. a Van Craeynest-style floral ring. Maybe better to find the setting that you love first, then you know what kind of stone you need to acquire? A trillion might look too modern for example.

Hi,

I am not a fan of morganite because there is usually too much brown in it. Recently, on QVC(home shopping network) they showed morganite rings with a more pink color, which I liked. The stones are set in sterling silver and the rings are nicely priced. Why don't you take a look on QVC.com The return policy is very good.

Hi all,
After some research in GIA's library, it is not natural Morganite that can fade, but instead you may have been thinking of Kunzite which can occur in a very similar color.

That being said, there have been recent reports of irradiated Morganite losing their color over time with exposure to daylight. This irradiated Morganite is not really a pink though, but more of a rich peachy color.

During this past February's Tucson Gem Shows, we noticed two vendors from Jaipur who had hundreds of identical, very clean, all with the same rich color, Morganite. They were not at AGTA, and so did not feel compelled to reveal to us any treatment.

I hope you find this helpful.

Hello Everyone! Some great comments here and also a great head's up from Roger regarding irradiated morganite. We haven't seen them offered here in the local Chanthaburi Market yet (and hopefully won't). Our morganite stones are definitely untreated. We had several of them certified at AIGS Lab with no indication of irradiation. These are also very clean specimens and not heavily included like some other batches we've seen come through the market and passed up on. These are new additions to our stock and we guarantee none of these were subjected to irradiation treatment. The PS experts are truly some of the most knowledgeable in the colored stone industry and we love to hear / take feedback we receive as constructive criticism. We will work and improve on picture quality for our gems. We do try our best to accurately portray the stones online, but it is certainly not an easy task. However, there's always room for improvement and if anyone else has any suggestions on how we can do better, please let us know! We truly appreciate when people the take to share their thoughts and opinions with us - it means a lot to us here :wavey:
