It is beautiful. Congrats on finding your perfect setting!!!!!

Mrs S: it''s just a gorgeous setting!!

and I really do love your new doggy avatar!!

MRSS!!!!! That is one heckuva of a PERFECT setting for your beautiful stone! I LOVE IT! It''s intricate without being fussy, and I love how it''s also an antique. A well-loved piece of jewelry has so much character and charm, not to mention history. Wonderful, wonderful choice! I can''t wait to see it all set up with your stone!

BTW, congrats on the B-bag too! What a productive, FUN trip this was for you, huh?!? Bling, bag, awesome Chicago grub, awesome Chicago stage show....what more could a girl want?!

ellen, lorelei, Dee Jay, eva17, belle, albi, turtle, blenheim- thank you thank you. I honestly still cannot believe I finally chose one. But 3 days later I''m still very happy with my choice.

Firegoddes: I haven''t decided who i''m going to have set it yet. I''ve been in contact with Bill but I''d really like to have someone local work on it. It''s in great shape but does need some engraving work done on the shank and we''ve got a local jeweler who works on all the pieces for an estate jeweler so I''m going to take the setting there and see what they think b/f I decide. Quest is also an option as they do restoration work but I just don''t know if i''m up for the nervewracking shipping etc. I can''t imagine it taking too long once it''s in someone''s shop.

Kcoursolle: dee jay''s ring is just fabulous. I''m sure if she didn''t have a 3 stone for sooo many years she''d probably keep it. But her stone is stunning and her eternity is just fabulous. I still have one on my wish list.

tacori and rosebud: thanks, it really is very unique and perfect for me.

KD: we were almost setting twins b/c a Mini Leon like yours was the frontrunner until I tried this one on. I even tried on a round with pear sides at 2 or 3 of the stores we went into and Dee Jay and my sister both loved it. I had kinda decided that was it until I spotted that estate case. So, who knows there may still be a leon 3 stone in my future but this is perfect for now. Chicago is one of my favorite cities. I just love than you can walk to just about any where you''d want to eat/shop in the city. It was just a spectacular weekend on all accounts. my b-bag is supposed to arrive tomorrow too

Gorgeous setting MrsS! I can''t wait to see the finished ring!! I''m so excited for you. I know you''ve waited a long time.

I love that setting. How perfect on your hand too. I think it''s great that it''s vintage. So much history. I really

Lorelei -- really?

It''s fairly commonly used around here. As well, "chow" or "eats" or in the case of my daughter, "num num num!"

Yes I thought it was just a Brit thing with grub, grubstakes as we say in this region! Also nosh is popular, love the num num nums!

Eeesh. Okay. I haven''t weighed in because I literally had a wave of panic about downsizing the vintage setting to fit your petite fingers! I just can''t figure out how they can do it without affecting the beautiful designs etc ... mostly because the whole top curve seems too large .. not just a matter of "taking it in" at the rear, but RESHAPING the main portion ... but if they say they can I''m sure they can.

However ..

IT''S PHENOMENAL. I LOVE IT. GOREGEOOOOHHHHHSO!

And I''m eagerly awaiting the B-Bag pix as well. You birthday/xmas minx, you!

deco, you''ve got me a little worried. honestly, when I emailed the pics to Bill he said the exact same thing. I guess I''ll know for sure on friday when I meet with the folks who work on all the estate jewelers items. the one bench guy I talked to said it''s not going to be easy but with a laser he can do it. Also, I was going to have them just try to get it down to a 4, it''s a 6 now I think. so, fingers crossed that it will work or else i''m going to be very, very

. Do you all think my mondern stone will look ok in the antique setting? and I thought this whole process was about over

Aiigh! That''s why I didn''t say anything at first ... I didn''t want to be a big ol'' wet blanket ... especially since I''m NOT an expert & have NO IDEA what''s possible these days. But this is the shot that concerned me ... because I have one of my grandmother''s rings that I sized UP ... but it doesn''t fit quite right because that inner arc is rigid ... they made it bigger in the back (adding a piece seamlessly) but didn''t alter that rigid "center" of the ring. Now ... I was working with just a general jewelry store .. not an estate jewelry pro & I was taking it up a lot of sizes & it was years ago ... so things might be different for you for sure!!

Those antique "dome" styles are so STUNNING! I think it would look great with your "modern" cut round. FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Well, I wouldn''t dispair....at least not until you''ve talked to several estate specialists.

I have an old ring that I wanted sized down to become a pinky ring. The first jeweler I took it to refused to do it.

I found an estate guy who would do it for me, with the understanding that I would pay the cost of remounting any melee that might become dislodged in the process.

Here''s a picture of the resized ring. (Turns out one stone had to be reset)

thanks widget. I''m honestly not sure what i''m going to do now. I talked to Bill and he said he wouldn''t size it down that much. I called the jeweler I purchased it from, i''m still in the return period and he said to send it back up to him and they''ll size it. he said his guy is good and can probably do it. Quest also said they can do it and could probably rework it so it looked good as new still keeping the antiqueness of it. I can just return it for a refund.

I hope it can be done. I really do love this setting, and know you do too.

I hope it works out - I know you love the setting.

If both Quest and the jeweler of the seller say they can do it, I''d assume they can do it...who would want to take on a project like that if they had a good inkling they''d destroy the piece? I sure wouldn''t. However, I definitely would only let a good craftsman do this job, and I know that''s exactly what you''d do. Didn''t Quest upsize your Tiffany repro for Chrono several sizes as well?

thanks so much you all. I really am so excited and can''t believe my months and months of searching has come to an end. well, now to find a wedding band
31.gif
.

Cerha: don''t worry about it, it''s hard to keep us all straight...

Kim H: loved Smith and wollensky. ate way too much. Wicked was just awesome. the standby was in for Elphaba and I was a little worried she wouldn''t be very good and she was just awesome. We have the soundtrack and the gal actually sounded better at times than Idina does on the track. I want to go back and see it again.

Miranda: thanks so much. I do feel like a piece of my grandmother is coming back to me even though it''s not her ring. She would have loved this one for sure.

Kerbear: thanks sweetie...how are you doing?

FG: you know, looking at the pics I thought the same thing about it having the same kind of feel that my Tiff repro did. But this one really is a lot different in person. It also doesn''t hurt that the stone was a lot bigger
3.gif

thanks Sharon..

monkey: I''m not sure how long it will take once my jeweler has it..

Lovey: I purchased an AGS0 1.5 G, SI 1 that I''ll be setting in there...

Allison: next time I''m in chicago you''ll have to meet up with us...

carlotta, ECF, Dani - thanks you gals

Turtle- I do think I''m going to have someone local do it. I went to a few jewelers today which is a drama story in itself but ended up and Lindell''s in brentwood who have an onsite bench guy that I talked to. they were really nice so I''ll probably use them. I did go to an antique place Rare Jewels and the gal there gave me the name of the guy who does all her repair work on her estate peices so that might be an option too.

happy, facetfire, suzqz: thanks so much, it really is so lovely in person

:) yes, my doggie did take off her costume until next year. she does have a cute santa hat that will show up closer to Christmas..

Widget: I had a pretty good feeling you''d like the setting. Honestly, Part of why I love it so much is that it''s a real deco mounting. there are some gorgeous repros out there but none of them have the same feel or charm as an genuine antique. Plus, odds are it''s one of a kind and that makes it even more special to me.

Lynn: thanks lady. you know, your''s was high on my list for a long time and still one of my favorites. But, deep down I just love those deco mountings and I''m hoping I''ll be happy with this one for a loooooong time.
I would love to get together with you and Dee Jay.
Hopefully, you will get your setting worked out. I popped into Graff''s today and they sold my ring
emsad.gif
. You didn''t buy it while you were there, did you? :)

Oh I hope you don''t return the setting Mrssalvo! You''ve waited so long to find just the right one and it seems perfect. You just need to trust this project to someone who has experience in this type of thing. And it is going to look just beautiful with your modern diamond!

ok, so here''s the latest. I sent the setting back to chicago. the store owner thinks they can size it. I told them several jewelers in my area said they couldn''t but he insists they can bring it down. so, rather than have someone else mess with it I figured I''d let them take the risk. if they can''t do it or mess it up, I''ll get a refund. This is the time when I start to second guess myself and wonder if I should just get the refund b/f they mess with it. I''ve got setting commitment issues

Well that sounds like the best case scenario really! It would be GREAT if they could make it work for you ... but if they can''t ... you''ll get your $ back. After all - they''re the ones that told you it COULD be sized (or at least implied it). I kinda think they should have been more upfront about potential sizing issues - especially since they went out of the way to get the stone removed/negotiate with the owner etc etc. It''s not like it was an impulse purchase! But - whatever ... they''re doing the right thing by offering you those options.

If it''s meant to be - it''ll be!
1.gif
If not - there''s something even BETTER around the bend.
9.gif

HOWEVER - if your 2nd thoughts are genuine & not just nerves ... it''s fine to just take the refund. I''m sure someone will love the ring the size it is. It''s quite Loveable!

mrssalvo,

Your new setting is just divine!! I can''t wait to see pics of it with your stone set. Sounds like you two had a fun day downtown. Looked like you''d need a crane to lift that hand with deejay''s ring on. Geez... that thing is HUGE!!!

Count me in on the list if you plan another Chicago outing Would love go go!

I was just in Lester Lampert and Graff the other week. So many beautiful things! My father bought my mom a diamond ring from Lester so I got to go along and be the hand model.

Congrats on the new setting! Let us know how the resizing works out.

Sounds like a good deal to me! Sorry you''re having commitment issues. It is truly an amazingly beautiful setting.

I''m so glad you enjoyed Wicked. It was amazing. I love the theatres in Chicago. The Goodman is beautiful, my husband and I make are making it a tradition to see A Christmas Carol there every December. I can''t wait!

MrsS, I think this is the best possible solution. Either you''ll get the ring or you''ll get your money back if they mess it up. Hopefully they won''t, they seem confident they can do it. I think this is the way to go!!!

Hello,
