I'm with ya on this (and don't get how living with someone is any less a committment than marriage practically speaking)......
1. Living together can be ended immediately....with someone moving out....and no financial obligations beyond separation. Sure, you may have to pay your portion of the rent still, but that's the extent of it. Marriage cannot be ended as cleanly.
2. If you live together for 3 years and you split up, you aren't entitled to any portion of the assets he's accumulated while you lived together. If you marry and you split up, you likely are.
3. If you live together and you split up, it's unlikely either party has to hire an attorney. Someone just moves, and that's it. Not quite so clean with marriage.
These are all valid considerations.
