I was lightening a tedious task with music, and began thinking about what I play and when. For instance, when cleaning the kitchen I often choose pop from the 70s, my high school years. If I'm going to wash dishes I'd like to feel 15, instead of ... my current age.
Lately when in doubt I've been listening to Queen - most of my current favorites were not on my radar back then. Freddie Mercury's voice is an absolute revelation in Somebody to Love - that long note at the end! The a cappella version of Love of My Life, for which he apparently forced Dr Sir Brian May to learn the harp! And Don't Stop Me Now gets my blood moving in my most sluggish moments.
So: now that YouTube and other platforms have put absolutely everything at our disposal, what do you reach for when in need?
