Wow Mariposa, your grandmother's ring is so beautiful! I've never seen a ring like it and the mine cuts make it very interesting. Gorgeous profile too. Not bad for a placeholder!!!

ETA-I agree about leaving the chipped stone as-is, unless the stone is so damaged it is in danger of falling out.

So beautiful! You are lucky to have this. Wear it in good health. I remember my beloved Grandmother''s rings fondly. I don''t know what became of them

I''d probably try and have the stone repaired also. What a beautiful piece to be left.

That is such a beautiful ring, but then again I am biased as it looks almost exactly like my wedding ring (I don''t have an e-ring). My ring was bought as an antique but I have no idea how old it is, this gives me some idea I suppose. Thanks so much for posting.

How wonderful to have such a beautiful piece of jewelry from your grandmother. That is truly special. Wear it in good health!

How cool! Such a nice heirloom piece and different setting! Very pretty

What a gorgeous and special ring!! I love old cuts too and this is one of the first I''ve seen as a five stone!
