My journey started with a charming little ruby I
found at a jeweller here in Holland. Because
of the very high pricing I figured that I could
perhaps better explore other options.

A blue sapphire has always been high on
my list. On the day I had almost decided to
buy the little ruby anyway, I found this
sapphire at a local jeweller, specialized in
antique jewelry. It was love at first sight
although it looked rather dark in the very
poorly lit store.

I decided to further explore more options,
but although I found stones that had looked
better on paper (lighter, better cut, lower
Pricing) I kept getting back to this one. The
one I fell in love with immediately. There is
Something about the color that is just
mesmerizing.

It has been on a very long layaway plan and
the idea was to collect the ring in december
but as it turned out I could collect it earlier
and I couldn't have been happier!

The stone was already set in a platinum setting
from a local goldsmith. I planned to send the
stone to Victor , but the setting has really grown
on me. It has small baguette sidestones and the
setting has a very modern/classic architectural
feel about it. All parts feel logical and in place
and the baguettes fit in like glass in a modern
building.

Here is my newest addition to my colored stone
ring collection:

Holy flocking crap that's AMAZING

Do you have any idea of treatment? I'm just curious as I had no clue about treatments before joining PS.

I hope you like the pics DandT. Looking forward to see what you think.
Unlike my other 'PS stones' I did a lot of searching in local jewelry stores with my own eyes. And well... It proves how difficult it is to buy a stone only based on photo's alone (like I did with my other stones).

Thank you!!! I did not have a clue about treatments either before PS
I learned on PS to trust and believe but not without receiving written proof :read:
According to the report it's a natural corundum with signs of heating.

Gorgeous color!

Aww, thank you aprilbaby!!!

sarahb: what a huge compliment. I am glad I kept this setting and did not ask the jeweller to make the kitten paw prongs thinner. Arkieb deserves the credits for that as she advised me to keep the setting as is. I started looking at in setting with different eyes and I totally love it now!

That is insane. Wow!!!!! Just incredible.

Thanks for sharing the info, the color is ridiculous in the best way! It reminds me of the photos of Beyonce's Blue ring, mesmerizing!

congrats!

WOW! I love it!!! Gorgeous. Worth the wait I'm sure :)

Where to start?!! You have an amazing eye, Acinom! That is as close to the perfect sapphire blue as I've almost ever seen. Vivid, vibrant, medium tone - full on spectacular. Yes to the setting too. I get that you wanted to make it your own, and it seems kind of... well, weird to just take the whole ring as is, but the quality and simplicity of that setting rock the stone! Kitten paws - perfect description. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.

And no, you can't have both the Paraiba and this. You'll have to decide which one will be mine.

Judging from your photos, you will have to be very careful wearing it, because I doubt anyone around you will hear a word you say when that ring catches the light! :cheeky:

It's gorgeous, stunningly so!!!! I remember the very first pic in the shop low lighting and it was so hard to tell, you insisted that it was magnificent and you were right to trust your eyes and gut - well done

What an incredible find! The color is amazing, it looks beautifully cut and I personally love that setting  Would not change a thing!
Congratulations on your gorgeous new addition :appl:

Well no wonder it immediately stole your heart, it is an amazing stone! Congratulations, and thank you for the pictures, getting to see a sapphire that remarkable is a treat for the eyes indeed.

It is beautiful. What a great color!

The color of that stone is stunning! I haven't seen a stone with that electric blue color in a long time. I can see why you kept coming back to it and you were so right. The setting is lovely too. I am so glad you decided to keep it as it is. It adds to the sapphire and doesn't steal the attention away from that amazing stone. Congratulations! It is truly a beauty!

Oh wow, that is drop dead gorgeous

One of the best hue, tone, and saturation I have seen posted here.

Congrats to you and enjoy !!! :appl:
