My 6 stone holy grail band that sparkles

So 13 years ago, before I knew anything about anything, I took my gran's art deco diamond ring and had it remade into a band. The band part was very important to me, this was not an E-ring, it was simply a band that sparkles. It was a disaster. And when the jeweler grudging remade the ring to what I had asked for, the workmanship was even more of a disaster. But it was my ring and my gran's stones so I lived with it. A few years later I discovered PS and learned about diamonds and how to choose them and then I sipped of the super ideal kool aid. A band of super ideals, what more could a girl ask for. But life gets in the way, and PS adds many more ideas to a girl's head, until girl realises that a five stone band for a big five birthday might be the way to go.

But what I didn't appreciate is that diamonds have depth (duh) and five super ideals on a 4.5 sized finger, wouldn't wrap round my finger, it would be a five stone ring sitting across the too and that wasn't really what I wanted. And again, PS adds so many ideas to a girl's head. But a band that wrapped round my finger and a bezel is what I continually came back to.

And here is it...almost :-) Thank you to everyone who answered my 'what size are your stones on what size finger' questions! Doing this online when our shops have been closed for the past five months has been a little challenging. And thank you to White flash for your service and attention to detail.

Could I have gone bigger - yes (and whoever heard of a girl persuading herself to buy smaller diamonds) but I kept coming back to my original idea - a band (and one that was in perfect proportion to my finger). I think this just about does the trick...

6x 0.2ct WF melee with platinum head and 18c brushed yellow good shank. Designed to be comfortable with no stones between my fingers (hence the 6 stones). It's what I wanted, low-key but still says 'look at me because I sparkle'.

I LOVE IT!

And I love an even count of stones in bands.

Congratulations, @Tartansparkles!

And now I want to see your remade grandmother's ring....

Congrats! Your ring is so pretty! Perfect finger coverage❤️

Love it!

Absolute perfection! You did a great job with the design and the diamonds! Congrats on getting exactly what you wanted!

What an awesome band! Perfect finger coverage!

This is beautiful and I love the story behind it! Enjoy wearing it!!

It is perfect. I love that you went with 6 stones. They give just the right "wrap" to your finger.

It’s a very beautiful band, I’m sure it has such presence and shine from across any room!
WF did an amazing job on it.

It's beautiful! I totally agree that ACAs are perfect for a diamond band! I have a 5 stone band on my wishlist, so it is very helpful to see your bezeled version! What I can't quite tell from these pictures is whether the bezels go all the way around each stone or not. Also, is your ring custom (with cads) or did they order your setting?

It’s lovely! The width is perfect on you and it looks like it would be really comfortable to wear. I love the bezels.

Thank you @mrs-b and @maita13. The six stones was a bit of a worry (I was brought up on the rule of three) and I was worried that the 'gap' between stones 3 and 4 would be right in the middle of my finger - but it's not easily noticeable.

Thanks @lovedogs, @MissGotRocks and @alene - the design, although so simple in my head, wasn't something I could find easily online (at least not in the right combination of style and size for my finger). WF were very patient as I worked (virtually) through every one of their wedding bands before going the custom route.

@MamaBear I was heartbroken when the local jeweller messed up the first time (it was a long time ago) but everything works out in the end.

@Lookinagain I was a bit nervous about the six stones and it was a compromise to get the wrap effect, thankfully it worked :).

Thanks @bright ice, everything with WF went very smoothly and I wouldn't hesitate to work with them again.

This is absolutely gorgeous! :kiss2:

The size of the diamonds is perfectly balanced on your hand & what a presence it has from a distance! I love the rich yellow gold & platinum combo too. Congratulations!

Thank you. I believe it's called a partial bezel - there is gap between each stone (which was my preference, to have metal around each stone would have, in my mind, broken up the line of sparkle).

Here are some WF pictures that show the setting a bit better. It was done with CADs. I provided an inspo picture, and after a few questions around the diameter/depth of the diamonds I decided on 6 x 0.2ct and job done.

At normal viewing distance I can't really see any definition between the stones, but then the sparkle isn't helping :)

Thank you :)

It is comfortable, so much so I have already, ahem, scratched the shank on the gear stick of the car because I forgot to slightly lift my finger.

At the moment I'm wandering round the house admiring my finger. (Although that's probably not as bad as last night when I was surreptitiously trying to get a photo while pusing a shopping trolley).

That looks amazing! Seems like you really put a lot of thought into it and got what would be comfortable on you!

That looks perfect on your hand. I’m glad it’s so comfortable!

Oh I LOVE this!!!!

I have an eternity that I have considered remaking, and this makes me think of doing a partial bezel style. The idea of all that smoothness is so appealing.

Do you think the bezel affects the sparkle of the stones at all?

Ooh, thank you for posting the closeups, @Tartansparkles! I really love your setting! I’m planning on putting together an eternity band with the same size stones in the next couple years and seriously considering a bezel, but really liking the look of the partial bezels.

Awesome! I'm sure the sparkle is amazing.

Oooooo! This is wonderful! Looks so comfy. Great job!

It's perfect on you. Congratulations!

Really beautiful and a very easy to wear style! Also love the 2 tone setting.

Beautiful band. Love the bezels - congratulations!

What a beautiful band. It looks awesome and comfortable and plenty blingy too! Love it!

Thanks @tyty333, I think you were the first person to recommend 0.2ct and your perspective photo was very helpful.

@Patty, it is super comfortable :-) I have been turning it to the side (wondering if I should have gone with 7 stones) but I can feel the diamonds between my fingers, so six stones was defo the right way to go.

Sorry @Tonks , I honestly couldn't say. The stones are still on the smallish side (by PS standards) and I believe are 3.7mm wide. The height is 3mm ish and the inspo picture had cut outs in the bezel cups but with the smaller stones on my ring, I don't think the cut outs would have been achievable or added any practical value. But it certainly is smooth :)
