Not to Princess Margaret''s - hers apparently was a ruby surrounded by a cluster of diamonds. Like Sarah Ferguson''s ring. But now you''ve got me curious because I do seem to remember a royal ering that was mainly just a large blue sapphire with no frills. I''ll have to research that...Date: 1/14/2008 7:22:19 AM

Lady A, that is a superb ring, is it similar to Princess Margaret''s e- ring?
Yes - my wedding band is an eternity with crisscut baguette''s. Here''s the link to more pictures of that ring:Date: 1/14/2008 9:17:12 AM

It''s all been said before, but I''ll add my WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!
I love it all. Is the WB an eternity?
Wowser, that is GORGEOUS!!!!!!! If you wear it to a PS GTG, I''d sure love to see it! Did you get it at B&S in Chevy Chase? (Did you ever get to that jeweler in Potomac? Just curious...) We''ll have to meet up someday so I can see your fabulous jewelry!Date: 1/13/2008 6:04:23 PM

Oh Man, LadyA, you''ve been holding out on us again. It is GORGEOUS!! I wanna playdate.....I wanna playdate!
I may have got it wrong, I remember my Mother years ago getting a gift from a woman''s magazine, it was a copy of a royal engagement ring which looked very similar to yours. Could it be Princess Alexandra perhaps? Curious now!Date: 1/14/2008 6:12:33 PM

Oh I try to wear it as much as possible. Blue is my favorite color so I have lots of outfits that compliment the ring & whenever I get dressed up I usually choose the big sapph. Le sigh. IDate: 1/17/2008 5:50:00 PM

Beautiful. I recently saw an estate piece ring in person with a huge beautiful blue sapphire like yours, and they really are to die for. I hope you wear yours a lot, because this one looked like it hadn''t been worn at all, and what a shame. I kept thinking, how sad, and that she should have worn it more....
Absolutely will. The color outdoors is amazing!!! It has so much depth.Date: 1/15/2008 4:03:42 PM

LOVE that awesome size! That is a statement piece. You MUST post pics of it outdoors, as I know that sapphires have such an interesting color change between in the indoor and outdoor lights. Can''t wait for more..
I did! Did you see it there? It was the biggest one in the case & when I saw it I thought - now that''s what I''m talkin about!! I also got my hubby''s new wedding ring there as well as that rose cut necklace. Oh and also a little sapphire and diamond bracelet I haven''t posted yet. They have the best (in my opinion) jewelry in the area. I think because they have a good selection of really nice colored stones - which I like.Date: 1/15/2008 7:26:05 PM

(BTW, in answer to a long-ago question, I did go to Mervis in Rockville when they had that trunk show in December. I think it was you who asked me.)
LOL! My eyes almost popped out when I first saw it.Date: 1/17/2008 5:43:50 PM

Fantastic ring!! That could put someone''s eye out!
I searched around & couldn''t find anything exactly like it. Marie-Chantal of Greece has a large cabochon sapphire with a diamond next to it but I doubt that is what your Mom got because it''s too recent. (It''s a gorgeous ring though!!)Date: 1/16/2008 5:28:10 AM

Now look here, Lady Amethyst. . .
We''ve had this discussion before about you flaunting your jewels under my nose and making me feel infinitely inferior in the bling arena! We''ve talked about my jealousy, and my lust for your rings, and frankly, I''m tired of you showing off!!!
And then, to add insult to injury, weren''t you the one who posted that rose-cut diamond necklace the other day?? Geez, woman, you really know how to hurt me, don''t you?
Seriously, I want that sapphire. You have jaw-dropping taste, and I''m in complete awe of you. It so must be lovely to be you!
The ring in my avatar is a historical one & not my own. Although I love it! It is an antique ring that Earl Spencer (Princess Diana''s brother) used as an engagement ring for his first wife Victoria Lockwood.Date: 1/18/2008 12:44:02 AM

OMG! As a lover of colored stones...I am absolutely lusting over that rock! What a great Sapphire! And what is the ring in your avatar? You have one amazing collection!
