My Burma Myanmar gemstones :)

:wavey:Gorgeous pieces in this thread!!! Very colourful and classy.
Love what you did with your bracelet. Tres chique

Thank you. I realise I'm absolutely random about colours!

I can't quite catch the right colour of the tourmaline which shows more pink and does shift slightly under certain lights, but it's a decent buy for the size! Courtesy of Ebay. Will get it tested at a local Yangon lab soon just to be sure.
I know how hard it can be to capture gem colors in posts. I can imagine what you describe about it though. I really love the size and the presence of the stone. I’m hoping it checks out to be as described! Love your new lavender sapphire!

Oh more online purchases.

1.94ct pair of spess and 2.29ct pair of moonstones. Small but clean. 20180527_220745.jpg 20180527_220856.jpg 20180527_220834.jpg
Those are almost like opposites in feeling. One so air and sky like, open and dreamy, the other so smoldering in fire with intensity, like a crucible with molten sun in it.. Love them all! Spessartites are just so amazing in their richness.

You are amazing how you bring such poetry and different perspectives to gem viewing! :)

Thank you! It’s a great pleasure and very inspiring to see your gems!

The moonstone turned out really good. Shown here on my jeweller's finger under white light.

We are getting a pair from the Mogok dealer. He will have the larger polished down to size to match better. Vendor's photo.

I bought non wearable stones today.

A paperweight sized rock with marble, apatite (colourless crystal bits) and hackmanite (lavender bits).

The Mogok trader threw in a few spinel crystals and 1 chrome diopside (which they euphemistically call Mogok emerald).

Love those moonstones, Burmesedaze!

Thanks both! Can't wait to see them. I'm hopeful they can be paired with my other new small pair and another banana shaped pair from last year for a dangling set. Something like this design DSC03213.jpgbut not exactly so.

Checking out my new Mogok moonstones and playing around with my older ones for a pair of dangling earrings. Light blue sapphire melee next to them.

Omg that's gorgeous and so so so detailed and delicate!

Chameleon?

Those moonstones are great together! Love the size relationships and of course, the fact that you will be making dangles! Lovely lovely beautiful.

Thank you! I'm going to take my time to plan out the setting, since I'll get it set locally and it has to be easy to make without screwing up :P

I'd like to see if they can make the top pair a wearable set of studs and the rest of the moonstones, dangles on demand. We'll see.

That’s a great idea! Then you have 2 pairs in one. With those stones, you could go with something very simple...but it’s all in the proportions regarding screwing up.

How much fun it would be to 'tag along' with you on these adventures! Gorgeous and FUN stuff........the moonstone earrings will be Amazing!

Or... Chunky gold settings :)

Thank you! I'm also planning out a moonstone necklace. A variation on the dbty design. I originally wanted to do it with my spinels but I think the moonstones deserve to be matchy!

Chunky gold, as in yellow gold would be amazing! The blue goes so well with the color of the yellow! It would be such a rich look. I love the way it is on you given that I’ve seen how your rose gold and spinel earrings, and your jade bracelet look with the warmer metal colors, and on your skin tone. Also, it’s a natural complimentary color for the blue, which can make the blue really pop out visually.

BUT, the icy look of white metal is also lovely. It’s a ‘cooler’ as in cold, overall look. The metal is in the background more, in which the stones are the main focus. Using yellow gold would make the complimentary color more a forefront design element.

I know absolutely what you mean! Remember this cushion moonstone? My first here iirc. It has a yellow/goldish base so I intend to set it in a simple cushion bezel ring in YG to bring out the gold, as it doesn't have that much blue. :Up_to_something2:IMG-20171010-WA0004.jpg

The HK settings chaps are also setting this clearer and somewhat bluer moonstone in this double halo setting for me in WG.

I am 75% sure I will have the earrings in WG to match this ring and I also have an 18k WG chain for bezel necklace projects.

And then I see how lovely YG earrings could be too. Like this pair spotted at another shop BUT asking for a ridiculous us$3000!!!

But now that we deal directly with the Mogok cutter that buys rough and cuts moonstones himself, I can always wait for another pair to set in YG.

They are still pretty pricey for moonstones although we go direct to the cutter. But not a shabby price for dwindling supplies methinks.
