DK, I must admit, I'm very excited to see what you do with these three. This is such a beautiful 3-stone combination!

Will your latest purchases be going back?

The latest purchases were inexpensive and I am going to keep them as I do not dislike them enough to return them.

The grey spinel side stones will look nice with the right centre stone. I paired them with a EC blue topaz last night and they looked good together.

I like the cut of the RDF and the way it sparkles, so I am keeping it, as it will make a nice pendant bale for a big pearl drop, or a ring.

As for the JW Rubellite, it is intended to be the bale of my interchangeable pearl pendant project. I shall see if I can find suitable big pearl drops for this project in Nov 15 in HK or when I am in LA for the pearl ruckus in Jul 16. If I am unsuccessful, then I shall consider setting it in a 3-stone ring with ? the JD silver spinel pair, as they do look very good together, most likely in a north-south design.

No surprise to anyone I am sure, however, this Amethyst will be mine at the end of April 2015.

Amethyst is my birthstone, and I have been given some money by my nearests and dearests to mark the occasion, and decided to take the plunge and get this stone.

I have been eyeing this stone for some time. Although I had considered other Amethyst in the past, I keep coming back to this one.

A big THANK YOU to Richard H for making it happen!



Still deciding on the setting, however, it is going to be something simple that I can wear on a daily basis, like these ones in platinum:

I collected my mum's ruby cluster ring re-sized to fit me again on Friday.

I had not worn it since a white tie event with my late partner in 2005 due to weight gain and increased finger size.

I have always loved this ring since she bought it many years ago in one of those shops specialising in mainland Chinese goods in the late 70s in Hong Kong (long before I lost the centre stone of her jade ring, hence the ruby is not in a bezel ). I don't know the spec of the ring except it is 18K WG, and the ruby is over 2ct.







So glad that I can wear it again now.

Got an e-mail from Uli of Osirisgems about closing his eBay shop later this month, and saw this 0.79ct Madagascan Rodolite with "raspberry" in the description, and I just could not resist:



It is unlikely to be set for a while as the setting I have in mind is rather expensive.

As for the RH amethyst, it is going to be set next ahead of the aquamarine, as the former is more sentimental, being my birthstone and purchased in part with money given to me to celebrate my 50th recently.

I have been informed by the firm that makes the semi-mounts that the ring for the Aqua has already been made, just waiting for final payment and the stone for setting!

Therefore, Amethyst ring will have to wait about 3 months before it is going to be made, and I have asked them not to make the ring until I have fully paid for it, and to wait until they have the stone in their hands, in case the actual dimensions are significantly different to the ones provided in advance.

I am still paying towards the Aqua semi-mount with one more instalment on 25 Mar, just did not realise they would make the ring before I have finished paying for it.

Now I have specifically asked them not to with all the future projects, not until I have sent them the CSs in case the actual dimensions are significantly different to the ones provided in advance based on photos etc...

Uli's Rhodolite arrived today.

Although it is cut very well, unfortunately, the colour does not thrill me, being too brown for my liking.

It does to me IRL, and reminds me of the Pantone Colour of 2015 which is Marsala. I was not thrilled by any of the jewellery when I first saw this PS article about it: https://www.pricescope.com/blog/victorian-garnet-revival-pantones-2015-color-year-marsala
