Hi,
This forum has been great help to me...all i know about diamonds is through PS.
I plan to keep adding the diamonds i am interested in to this thread ..... please add your comments to my search so that i am able to narrow down to 'perfect beauty' with your help

Before i add any new diamond info here wanted to ask you something:
Which is a better option in with same budget? 0.90 carat with VERY GOOD cut OR 0.80 with IDEAL cut color(H) & clarity(VS2) is same for both....hey measure below 2 in HCA
I was earlier looking at only IDEAL cut & not looking at Very Good cut - is VERY GOOD cut not worth considering even if it HCA is below 2?
thanks!

yes, depending on who grades the stone. Get the HCA to below 2 and then get the IS.

Some GIA Very Good cut grade diamonds can absolutely be well worth considering with a 2>

It depends on the reason the diamond was given an overall cut rating of Very Good... Is it due to polish, symmetry, proportions, or all three? I''m a big fan of tight, zero ideal cut diamonds - but might consider a diamond which has center range zero ideal proportions, but an overall cut rating of Very Good due to polish... note that I didn''t say symmetry

Thanks, i will keep looking for VERY GOOD cut as well ... but will keep an on symmetry as Todd suggested.
Search: Number 1
Below is the stone whose florescence is a problem:
Price: $3,017
but the Fluorescence is STRONG medium: should i pass on this one due to fluorescence?

The diamond has good proportions and strong blue fluorescence is only rarely a problem in so far as it can make a diamond look cloudy in some lights, but the vendor should be able to advise if this is the case - it is rare though that strong fluorescence causes a problem.

Read more here on fluorescence.

Looks promising.

Thanks Lorelie & Stone-cold11!

SEARCH NUMBER 2:
i like this stone but feel it is on little expensive side...what do u think? I like the measurements but is $3327 justified?.... please let me know your thoughts
thanks!

What is the symm and polish grade? There might be a discount in price due to the SB Fluor.

It has definite potential Earth, I assume it is GIA graded and what are the polish and symmetry grades please?

Yes Lorelie..this is the GIA report which i have have copied to my excel chart for stones i like.
Search No. 2:

Symmetry:Excellent
Polish: Excellent

Missed adding symmetry/polish to the excel sheet: will correct it in the main post as well!!

I was thinking this stone is expensive? Do u think it is o.k for the price?

Is the crown height low... was worried about crown angle less than 34?

Hi Stone-cold11

This one (search 2) does not have any flour. ...that was for the search no. 1 on top which i rejected. This is a new stone i liked but i feel it is expensive....what do u say?
symmetry & polish are both EXCELLENT

Price is a little on the high side, nothing wrong with the crown height/angle.

Thanks stone-cold,
i think i will not rush with this stone then and look out for others reasonably priced ones.

Ok thanks!

The diamond could be a winner, the crown angle is absolutely fine and isn't too low at all. Assuming this diamond is online, the price looks high compared to other comparable diamonds....

I''m waiting for option 3 since I think the price might cause you to reject 2 as well.

Can someone clear up some confusion for me? In the picture of the HCA score for the .80 diamond that Earth posted (in his/her second post) the diamgram seems to be for a crown of 35 and a pavillion of maybe 40.4 rather than a crown of 34.5 and a pav. of 40.6., which would make the diamond fall in a slightly different spot in the HCA. Incorrect entering of the numbers, or a glitch in the HCA??

No..i got the same again...performance 0.7 & all 4 are excellent

Weird. I just tried it myself and it came up in a different spot on the HCA, with a score of .8, three exellencts and spread very good.

Do you think this is because of the recent rise in diamond prices that it is expensive & might rise further? I was thinking $2800 would have been the right price for it... what do u think?
