Has my new emerald checked by a local guy who gives me some insights.
It is med green emerald with a hint of blue, just like Garrett told me.
It is very clean and good quality, that makes him think it is an Africa material.
He said the cut is excellent, good symtery, no windows, but there is a tiny tiny dent, barely visible on one edge, not a big deal.
Overall, it is as advised. Thus I highly recommend emerald embassy.

You purchased it on the premise that it is a Colombian emerald. Does it bother you that your local gemmologist thinks it might be of African origin? My understanding is that there is usually a slight premium on Colombian over the African variety.

The gemologist wasn't very sure about the org, nor do I care that much.
I just want a nice look ring for my wife.

Emeralds have tell tale inclusions that identify their country of origin. If your gemologist wasn't sure, he probably wasn't that well versed in emeralds to begin with. He may have thought it was African since they tend to be cleaner than Colombian.

When a gemologist evaluates a pricey emerald, they should identify country of origin, and sometimes mine location (ie Muzo vs Chivor), and clarity enhancement, as well as clarity itself, saturation, hue, tone, etc. . .

Not sure how much you paid, but just an FYI for anyone reading this considering a pricey emerald.

Tl beat me to it (because she is our expert).

It takes a lot of time, research and a mongo microscope to do an origin evaluation. That's why the big labs charge so much for it.

But I do think the vendor knows their source, and was honest about it.

It's a beautiful emerald, BTW. It was worth all the time and effort. :appl:

You did well.

Agree with all the above. Also, if Embassy Emeralds stated that it's Colombian material then it probably is. Ask them how they know if it's important to you (although from your post I don't think it is).

He did mention the sharp of inclusion a few times, but I wasn't be able to follow what he was saying
