#JOTW My first diamond ring. It's electric!

This is epic! I love this so much, this is one of the coolest diamonds with the most beautiful star. Congratulations, this ring is jaw dropping and amazing!

@Starstruck8 who sourced the stone for you? I'm looking for one with a star pattern if possible. Thanks!

Apologies, I can't help much... The stone came from a big Australian gem dealer who doesn't sell directly to the public, as far as I know. He makes a point of showing interesting and unusual stones to one of my jewellers here in Brisbane, because they both know I like weird stones.

Searching on 'asteriated diamond' may help. Be aware that most such diamonds come from Marange, Zimbabwe - you may have an attitude to this. Some of these stones are truly amazing. This is the 'Rhodesian Star', fluorescing in UV:

Good heavens, how did I miss this? This is the most AMAZINGLY COOL ring EVER!! Wow, @Starstruck8 , you have outdone yourself! You have outdone us all! Your jeweler has outdone us all! Wow, wow, WOW!

This is Cinnamon Lee's video and story, now on her website:

That is so amazing! Who could this "fantastically willing client" possibly be?!

i did not realize that it is externally powered by induction! Can you use a cell-phone induction charger or it is specifically mated to the ring? Can you keep on under your rug (or placemat!) when you host dinner parties?

I feel a little uneasy having "Cinnamon Lee's Covert X website" in my browser history but, as I recently learned somewhere, a solid 10% of women would think that's cool.

The induction base was specifically made for the ring. It's the black plastic 'pointed disc' in Cinnamon Lee's video. It has quite short range, only about 10-15cm. So putting it under the rug would not work. But you could have it on the table and casually wave your hand around. Pity I'm not into dinner parties...

What an apt name, Covert X. It sets my mind racing to undercover agents, Bond and the like. @Starstruck8, the “fantastically willing client” with the mystery stone, made it happen

This was very much Cinnamon Lee's project. In a sense, I just supplied the money to make it happen. But I'm very pleased to have done so. giving her the opportunity to make something unique.

Yes! My standard line is that I don't have jewellery, I have a wearable rock collection. The point of my settings is to show off the stone. This setting takes that approach to the extreme.

I'd tell people it's a wearable art and natural history museum
