My first ruby is here! (and it's Art Deco)

Oh no I'm so sorry to hear that. Was it insured?

It could still turn up! We have parcels that just float around the system here and apparently 99% of them turn up, just not on time!

I added it to my jeweler's mutual policy. But since it's an antique piece I'm not sure how the replacement policy would work :(

I'm clinging to the hope that it might be somewhere in the carrier's truck. Post office basically told me it was loaded onto a carrier truck for delivery and never showed up again. GIA don't have it either so it's not that the carrier forgot to scan when they made the delivery.

What does the tracking number say? Fingers crossed that it's only delayed. Usps is really really good about taking care of the packages.

It was Out for Delivery, then Awaiting Delivery Scan for a few days now since said delivery never happened. People from the destination post office told me they couldn't locate the package:(

Oh they do that here too! I've had parcels that sit around in vans for days. Sometimes the driver doesn't quite make the run on time. But it's always shown up eventually. Fingers crossed for you!!!

Once my bright green jadeite bangle (my absolute favorite) was scanned to a sorting house in China and stayed there for a week (normally moves in 12 hours, a day tops). No insurance. I was like "Yup, there goes all the money I flushed down the drain."
But then it was picked up and made its away to me. Package wasn't opened for security checks or anything. My theory is that it dropped off into some corner and was eventually found and tossed back into the process.

Hang in there!!!!!

Thank you so much!! I really should distract myself from the anxiety.
Glad to hear that your jadeite bangle made its way safely to you. I hope what happened to my package is similar - it slipped between the cracks in the truck or something.

I have a story - we were kind of moving, only for a year, but like fools we put all our daughter's toys, the special ones she needed, in a box. We shipped five boxes total. Guess which was the only box that didn't arrive?

FedEx wanted to "compensate" us. Having worked in retail, I knew the procedure - I called them (it was 2011, easier to get a human on the phone) and said "give me to the person who handles callers who are screaming or crying." Sure enough, I was transferred to someone who actually listened and promised to investigate. And within 24 hours the box was found. In the FedEx office where we shipped them - just sitting on a shelf, forgotten. So keep asking and try to work your way up the chain from people just reading from a script to someone who knows how the system works and can get a search started - most companies would rather pay a claim than really look.

I got ahold of a lady in the post office where the package was last scanned before out for delivery and she promised to look for it. After a day I called again for follow-up and she told me that it was neither in the post office nor on the truck for that route. She got the carrier of that route on the phone and they sounded so annoyed and said that 'NO package that day was going to that address', the address being the GIA lab in Manhattan. This does not look good ...

I also tried the top-down route and opened a lost package search case with USPS. Let's see how that goes :(

@cloud_less big ((( hugs ))). I admit that I cried when the shipping company lost my griffin. I think this is the hardest thing about buying antiques, you can't truly replace them.

Sorry to hear about this. USPS once lost a piece I had purchased from Sally at HoW. I am still sad about that.

MY story is that several years ago I bid and won and really nice pearl and diamond stickpin on eBay. I never received the package. Months later, the seller messaged me to let me know that the package she sent had gotten mixed in with some sweepstakes mail....I think it was Gatorade. She was as shocked as I was that it resurfaced and even sent the correspondence from the company telling her it had been part of a shipment of sweepstakes entries they had received. Maybe there is still hope it will show up. Fingers crossed for you.

So sorry to hear about your ring @cloud_less …it is beautiful and I hope it turns up!
