My first spinel!

I got this beautiful spinel today from Gary (who by the way is super sweet)!

I am at work so I am just attaching the pictures Gary sent me (the stone is nicer in rl).

It is GORGEOUS

. I didn't realise spinels were so sparkly!!! I can feel a serious addiction coming

Beautiful spinel; looks like a padparadscha in the first picture and a pink in the second! The Vietnamese mines come up with unbelievable spinels occasionally (non common colours) and you just snagged one.

I really would like to set this one as soon as possible...as a ring... although my budget probably wouldn't exceed about 400 dollars for the setting and if I can save a little on that even better.

I haven't had time to take pictures yet which is a shame as it looks like the sun has decided to not come out today in London...I hope it changes!

There is a small inclusion on one of the corners that can be easily hidden with a prong. I had a quick think and have toyed with the idea of a Lotus setting from Sally, the LOGR mount with the bezeled side stones (a few Psers have that one and it's so delicate and pretty) and maybe that new 8 mm LOGR with the larger halo (but would that be too big for the stone?)

What do you guys and gals think? Any ideas?

Nice stone! Does it have any brown in it?

I was afraid it would have alot of brown in it from one of the pictures on Gary''s site. It does have a little bit...but not enough to bother me. I am looking at it right now ( at work lol!) and I see medium dark pink. Hopefully the pictures I take will give you more of an idea.

I''d probably suggest going with a Lotus, and not going with a halo - reason being that this stone has an interesting shape (almost round, but not exactly your ordinary round) and a gentle color (both of them). But it''s your call, of course
