Thanks! I can still see the tinge of color in this G though - that''s what sensitive eyes and years of looking at a D /SB will do to a person. So I''ll always be scoping out the D/E''s on the site....

hand shot - this is what I see in diffused daylight at home - the maltese cross just lights up!
WOW and I mean WOW and I am a guy and I rarely comment in SMTR but I had to comment in your thread.

You must be a professional photographer or you certainly could be.

Please tell me as I want to learn to take pictures as beautiful as yours.

1) What kind of camera and lense and setup do you use?
2) How long did it take you to setup each of those shots?
3) Any other important tips you would suggest.

You have managed to get extreme closeup without getting much obstruction which is really impressive.
I''m sure if rhino saw these he would be very thankful for the way you have presented his AVC cushion.

Just spectacular, especially the hand shot, It is amazing you where able to get the dark X on the hand in addition to the 4 big bright mirrors, that was a most ideal light setup.

Congratulations on your choice and pictures just spectacular.

Regads,
CCL

Regads,

CCL

Wow - thank you so much CCL! (Thank you everyone, actually!!!!)

I have a Canon PowerShot A650 IS (12MP, 6x optical, 7.4-44.4mm, 1:2.8-4.8). I used it under Program mode, no flash, auto-frame set to center, usually set on 80 or auto ISO, set for either cloudy or sunlight conditions depending on what I was shooting, in macro mode of course (and every now and then I''d adjust the f-stop a little manually). I don''t zoom in on the macro with the camera, I just move my body. It takes pretty good pics even from a distance! On some pics (close-ups) I''d let the camera focus, which usually meant on the pavillion cross, then back up the camera a little to pull the plane of focus out to the table area. Some pics were taken with a tripod, some not. I took *many* pics, and each shot took just a few seconds to set up as I moved around either myself or the props.

It seems to like an ISO between 80-200 for most of the pics, f/2.8-f/4.0 usually. I let the camera decide exposure time. For the kozibe pics that was ISO 160, f/2.8, 1/60s. The direct sun pics were ISO 80, f/4.0. The hand shot you like was ISO 80, f/2.8, 1/20s in diffused daylight in my living room.

Thank you again for the compliments - I really enjoy photography, and I think I''m doing ok with this camera. :)

Wowzers -- just gorgeous!

I''m loving these AVCs.

Question: Is the Maltese cross as prominent to the naked eye (in real life) as it is under the camera? Or does the camera enhance this aspect of AVCs? (It''s beautiful either way ~ I''m just curious.)

It''s very obvious - it really pulls your eye to the center of the stone (as opposed to my RB which is a more diffuse look, if that makes any sense).

WOW!! I absolutely love it!! And I really like the setting too!! By the way, your pictures are amazing!

That does make sense, and it''s helpful to know. Thanks! Congratulations on 10 years, by the way!
