From the first photos she sent me I was near a tie, but really loving the darker one. However from the natural light neck shots they are both beautiful, but it is the lighter strand hands down!

I agree with bsomlo (and you, OP) - the lighter strand! Both beautiful though.

I had the same reaction. I preferred the darker in the initial photos, but the lighter in these new neck shots. Plus, the lighter one looks more bridal. I think you should use the darker one for your tin cup so you have variety.

I'm sticking with #1 - gorgeous!

Ok lighter strand is the winner, but I am not getting it yet because I am still trying to figure out the best tin cup option (will get them both at the same time). So I am looking at also getting a 20-22inch YG tin cup with an array of different pearls. Here are my options Hisano sent me.
Option A is made only with round pearls but the sizes are random. The pearls are about half an inch apart.
Option B is a mix of drop and rounds. The spacing is less than half an inch.
Option C has the most variety of pearl shapes and sizes. The space between pearls are about 1/4 of an inch.

I asked about doubling or tripling the pearls, and possibly rose gold instead of YG.

Thoughts?

I am leaning between b and c

your wedding necklace with Grandmas pearls is stunning.

I love the tin cups too, I actually prefer the top strand but thats because I prefer tin cups with smaller pearls and large spacing as its more delicate. but thats just me :)

#1 :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

I like c most because of the shapes and spacing. But they're all beautiful.

C for me.

C caught my eye too, because the pearls are oriented in both an E/W and N/S way, slightly larger, and more of them.

I do like the variety of pearls in C, and the different orientations shown, but I like the spacing better on A. My personal preference with tin cups is to have longer sections of chain between pearls. I like the idea of having a double or triple so more pearls can be used.

I vote for A!!

The lighter torsade is beautiful. I love that you found such a wonderful way to use your grandmother's pearls - that combo of aesthetic and sentimental value is priceless!

For the tin cups, I also like the spacing in A but the variety of shapes in C! I think those soft colors would look lovely on rose gold, but they look great in YG too.

Yay, the Torsade looks lovely!!! I would choose A, I love how simple and elegant it is. Rose gold would be very pretty.

Ok I think we have a good idea. Either Rose gold or YG, and spaced either <1/2 inch or 1/4 inch with clusters of pearl in 1s 2s and 3s, at 22 inches.

I want a nice long tin cup rope in the future, with a mix of tahitians and GSS pearls, that will be either 35" or 54", which was the original length I was thinking for this. But I like the idea of this being a single strand, with clusters of pearls, and in the future if I want this longer and may have it lengthened.

But I have so many ropes I want this to be single, shorter, and delicate, but not too delicate! So I love the idea of it having a variety of clusters of different shapes and sized pearls! I think strands that are shorter then 18" look silly on me, and 20-22 seems to be a nice length for me. So I am trying to find a nice blend to have a nice substantial necklace, that is still delicate in some ways. Weird requirements I know!

Here is what Hisano sent me as examples of clusters with a YG chain and a RG chain.

So the top option is spaced <1/2 with a rose gold chain
lower option is 1/4 with a YG.

I am torn between the YG and the RG but I think I prefer them closer together, but would love to hear what you guys think! Maybe closer would defeat the purpose of a tin cup? That's what I am worried about. :eh:  :?:

I love the arrangement of the pearls. Terrific variation on a tin cup!

I think I prefer the top spacing.

This project gets better and better!

Love this version...and I like the top one too. You don't want it to look too crowded, especially with the clustering.

I love the clustered tin up idea. I think the top one is my favourite.

I think I prefer the YG and the spacing 1/2 inch the more I look at it.

I like the top spacing the best and for the gold option I prefer yellow because I wear that more. Tough decisions!!

I love the mixed clusters of 1, 2 or 3 pearls. I like the spacing on the top option better, so the clusters don't get bunched up. As much as I like rose gold, I think I would pick yellow for this necklace. 4RG's tin cup with multicolor metallic FW pearls looks great on yellow gold.

I am going with 22" YG with the top spacing (1/2 inch)
with a mix of drops and rounds (about 30 pearls) with a cluster of 3 in the center!

excited! :)
