Here''s the scoop...

I purchased a 1.56, E, SI 2, Ex cut stone. Came to pick it up. Inclusion was not too obvious, but i was able to see it when looking at the right angle. to be honest, it bugged me. i shipped it back and now im in the middle of making another decision where i need you guys to help me...

there''s a...

1.55, G, SI1, Ex cut stone (scores a 0.9 on the HCA) for $9760

compared to...

1.54, G, VS2, Ex cut stone (scores a 1.4 on the HCA) for $10700

both are eye clean from what the vendors say. now i guess it''s just a matter of paying 1000 more for a clarity upgrade and possibly spotting anything with the SI1. im a little iffy with SI''s now ever since i had that SI 2. let me know what you guys think. your thoughts would truly be appreciated. give me the good and the bad. thanks

Sometimes "mind clean" is the way to go. If you have the money but not the time, go with the VS2. If you have the time but not the money, go with the SI1 and just send it back if it doesn''t work.

thanks neatfreak. well played. short and simple.

Since it''s BlueNile instead of Whiteflash, I''d just go ahead and get the VS stone.

When Whiteflash says it''s eyeclean I trust them.

Is that a GIA stone? $10,000 seems low for a 1.5 G VS2. But yes, I''d go with the VS2.

Have you also checked out the inventory at Jamesallen.com. I find they are very competitive in price with BN and they can actually have someone check out the diamond in person to look at whether it is eye clean. If they don''t have anything in their inventory that you are interested in, then I would probably go with the G/SI1 and then ship it back if it''s not eye clean. $1000 is a lot of money to me and it would be worth it to try once more and see if it''s eye clean even though you may end up shipping it back. If you can swing it and have the credit card limit, you could buy both and ship back the one that doesn''t work.

i appreciate everyone''s response. i am going to go with the G/SI1. reason being, there is a 30 day return policy. if my perception comes out eye clean with this one then ill keep the diamond, if not ill return it. id like to put the diamond in a nice setting and that extra 1000 dollars will go a long way, especially if i want to g platinum.

if the diamond doesnt pass my test, ill return it and grab the G/VS2. i spent about 31 usd. on the first return (E/SI2) to bluenile. so i dont think that is a big deal to me. but on the other hand, 1000 dollars is money hard earned.

thanks for your options everyone.

If you would like to, you could post the stats (table, depth, pa, ca, girdle) and we can consider those too.
