I just wanted to post about my visit to IDJ this week. I was going to be in NYC for work, and had contacted Luann to let her know I'd be there and was interested in getting a quote for resetting my diamond studs from my original martini setting to a thin bezel setting. I have loved my WF baby bezels so much and thought I'd wear my larger studs more if they were set similarly. These earrings are 1.04 ctw, so roughly half a carat each.
My hubby and I stopped by IDJ on Sunday to drop off the studs, and we picked them up late yesterday before heading home. We got to meet Luann, Yekutiel, Israel and Yekutiel's mom (I can't remember her name - so sorry!). They were all an absolute joy and I was so happy to meet them in person.
Luann and I had talked about doing a style similar to the WF handmade bezel, and IDJ was happy to set them that way for me, but it was going to be more expensive than their stock bezel setting, and the metal around the bezel was going to be thicker and more "donut" like. They would have to get that setting from one of their vendors. Because of the size and depth of my stones, we realized that that style wasn't going to sit much more flat on my ears than the stock bezel. From the side view, the stock setting looks chunky (which I'm not crazy about), but from the front, the bezel is so fine and beautiful. I decided to save some money and time and go with the stock setting, as from the front view, it was more the look I wanted for these stones. I think the donut bezel in the handmade setting would have been too thick on these stones.
They were so nice to have them finished for me before I left town, and I think they're beautiful. They seem sooo much bigger now and I'm getting used to that (I wasn't aiming to make them look bigger, I just like the thin bezel look). Here are a few pics - not great as it's cloudy here today, and the stones are very nice but don't look so great in these pics. I didn't take an ear shot, but I can if anyone is interested. Just wanted to share and to give a shout out to IDJ!
