I put together a first collage today and wanted to get your thoughts, since you all have very good taste. We have not finalized a date or a venue yet, but are thinking early September 2010 in Italy -- Italian Lakes and surrounding country side and wine regions. We have a list of potential venues and will visit this Summer.

A couple of questions:

* Not 100% sure about a color scheme yet, but I like muted colors such as sage green, ivory and chocolate brown. We''ll do an evening wedding, so I''m wondering whether I need an accent that "pops" a little more, so the colors don''t get washed out when the light fades? Any suggestions? A red tone perhaps?
* I put this together using pictures that were already on Polyvore, so of course nothing is 100% coordinated -- however, do you think this board is generally cohesive, or are there things that blatantly don''t work?

Let me know. Keep in mind I''m early in my planning and this is my first attempt, but with that said, feel free to be completely honest!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR BOARD!!! it is almost exactly what I am going for!! I know what you mean by needing another color to make it pop. For me, that color was peach. I''m not crazy about pink, nor did I like orange. Peach is a beautiful medium that can be either soft or bright. I''ve attached the bouquet I am in love with. I''ll attach some more of my ideas and let me know what you think. If you dont like it dont worry, it wont hurt my feelings!

I also love this one!

this is a little bit brighter color peach but it follows your colors pretty nicely

I hope those help! I''ll keep my eye out on more! good luck!!

Looks fab. I was thinking an orangey colour too would look great with everything. The bright peach would fit in wonderfully.

happygolucky and bee -- thanks a lot! I like the peach idea. Normally I would always go for a soft, light peach, but I can see how the bright peach would really pop. Thanks for your help.

I really like what you have so far, but definitely in need of a little pick me up. Either a bright wine red, orange, or those brighter peach colors would be fabulous!

I also like the addition of the peach with the other softer colors on your board. Other highlight colors that might look nice are a warm reddy-purple or a warm golden yellow. In all these cases the trend seems to be keeping with warm colors.

I think what you are doing with the board is great for narrowing down the style and general feel you want and should help narrow down venue options for you. However I would hold off on making any definite color decisions until you have found your venue. You seem interested in making your event have a cohesive ''look'' and I think one of the best ways to do that is by complimenting whatever beauty the venue has already. Since you are looking in Italy I assume you will have no problems finding a gorgeous venue that fits what you are envisioning.

Also, If you haven''t done it yet, another step I would take is to put together the guest list before you decide on a venue. It was so helpful for me to have a pretty good guess of our total number while I was looking at places- I had to cut a few of my favorites since how many they said the space would hold more than it could comfortably fit!

Sorry if this is unwanted advice, I''m just feeling chatty today I guess!

Wow...that is so beautiful! I feel like I am instantly transformed to very special place. I want to go to your wedding!!!

I love love the bridesmaid dress!! I would wear that dress NOT as a bridesmaid! Who makes it??? Curious!!

I don''t know if I would add any color. I love the muted colors, as you say. They are very soft, calming, and beautiful. Very natural...letting the surroundings speak for themselves.

You''re absolutely right, the venue will be at the center of things, and then everything else will be picked to complement it. All of the venues I''ve shortlisted are gorgeous and fit the general idea of the board. I am definitely into a cohesive look, as you say.

I agree! I have a tentative guest list and sadly, sadly, the venue I''ve wanted to get married at for ages is on the way out because it''s too small.

Not at all! I''m such a wedding newbie, any advice from brides further along is more than welcome. Thank you!

Thank you so much, that is so nice of you to say. I feel like I''m still so far away from a real "vision" for the event.

That is a dress by Amsale. I just picked it out from Polyvore, but I agree it''s very pretty. It''s probably really expensive, too...

Oohh, a dissenting voice! I totally see what you''re saying. Thanks!

I agree with this advice. I love your planned scheme of sage/ivory/chocolate, but in the dimming light as the evening wears on, a bright accent color would be helpful. Italy totally make me think of wineries so adding in a deep wine red, or some kind of purple that still goes with the winery idea but looks amazing with greens and browns.

I would also think you could use lighting for your "pop." Imagine lots of sparkly lights, votives, candles...maybe some type of hurricance that is in one of your colors, so that the glow of the light brightens the color. Just magical!!

Rock_of_Love, that''s a really good point. I can imagine several different light sources, but in one color, popping up as night falls. That''s lovely. Great idea!

audball, thanks! I like the idea of wine red a lot. For some reason, I also feel like that color might be easier to implement for the local coordinator and florist than a peach color.

Thanks for your insight!
