Dude,
When I read this post, I nearly fell off my chair. Sounds like your from So Cali too, eh?
I went to visit GOG with nearly the same budget and size. But I was particularly interested in the solasfera's.
I was there, about 5 weeks ago.
I was comparing between the 1.53 (http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4316/) and a 1.30 H IF Isee2 and a 1.32 Solasfera.
I was originally looking for the Solasfera, but was bothered by the the inclusions on the face. This led me to look at the 1.53 and the 1.3 since they were in the same price range.
I nearly bought the 1.53. I'm not sure if they told you, but the color of the stones are graded upside down (Pavilion up) and graded from the side. So if you think about it, once the ring is mounted, the slight warmth might not be visible right away. And I think with platinum, its nearly indistinguishable (unless in some specific lighting conditions)
In the end, I decided on the slight smaller stone. It was nerve racking, but I thought the slight warmth would bother me in the long term. I'm happy with the decision, but realized that it may not matter as much
If you want to take a look at the 1.3 on the Gabriel Novo setting, check it out here..

I'll post pictures with it on my Fiance's finger later, but on her 5.5 finger, that thing ring looks absolutely HUGE. Most viewers mistake it for a 1.5. And it sparkles like there is no tomorrow. After reading all these PS posts of 2 and 3 carat diamonds, I thought I went a little small. But after seeing it on her finger, the 1.5 would have been too much.
Good luck in your hunt!. Starting out at GOG and WF, puts you way ahead of most people in the search of the best e-ring.
