We recently took a spring holiday to Japan to chase Sakura. As with all things booked almost a year in advance, best laid plans often go awry. The Hokkaido sakura we intended to see did not bloom yet but we did catch some in Tokyo and saw Mount Fuji on the same day so yay us!
You’re probably like “Shut up and get on with the jewellery.” Heeeee
I had two free days to go jewellery shopping. First stop was Brand -Off where I saw the most fabulous Mikimoto bangle ever! Now as a general rule I dislike brands (Why pay for the name???) but I knew that I could not recreate that bangle without a whole lot of drama so I decided to buy it. Unfortunately I was foolish and forgot to bring my credit cards from Australia thinking that I could just use our overseas travel card which was under hubby’s name. Hehe that did not go down well and I was sternly told NO. Rightly so! Hubs was on the other end of town pretending to be a ninja so I had to beg them to reserve it for me so he could pay for it at the end of the day. No one really understood anyone but we muddled through. I did beg them to just let me pay with his card but was sternly told no again to which I apologised profusely for being a feral tourist.
To quote my son: Mummy you rocked in there wearing a wig and tried to pay with a credit card that was not yours. I am surprised they didn’t have you arrested let alone reserve the bangle for you.
Hubs got there at the end of the day and after various card declines (because we had all these safety measures in place) we managed to pay for it! So without further ado here is my much adored masterpiece! She weighs 38g, 18k gold with Akoya pearls and wee diamonds. I wear bangles ALL THE TIME so trust me this was a must buy! Plus I am into yellow gold right now!

Now initially after I couldn’t pay for the bangle, I was rather dejected and had this crazy plan to withdraw huge sums of cash using Hubby’s card to pay for it. I decided against it cuz the 7-11 was faaaaaar and it was pouring. Dejectedly I hauled my cold and wet self (but the wig stayed on and looked awesome!) to Tokyo Pearl, to window shop. Didn’t expect to buy anything of course because I had no access to money!
But miracle of all miracles!!!!!!! They had tap and pay!!!!!!!! Woooot woot!!!!!! They were so so sooooo nice! I tried on a pair of earrings and told them that I will buy them and make sure I can pay for them before I get up to any mischief. Fortunately the tap went through smoothly and I bought up a storm. Actually in my defence it was not a storm, only items that my wardrobe desperately needed.
I bought these earrings and necklaces:

Bangle for Lil Sis:

I need to go cook dinner! Will get onto the next part of my adventure later! And no I did not just go jewellery shopping! I got it out of my system after two days and then we went around these charming towns in Hokkaido and I did not even look at a jewellery store. I just drank lots of milk and ate lots of soft serve for the rest of the trip!
