I do love a good rabbit hole.
It started out innocently enough when on YouTube I stumbled across Chinese dramas.
Talk about cute. Really interesting how they handle demonstrating anger “cue a close up of a clenched fist” and affection “cue a partly obscured view of their heads and a quick kiss on the lips”. As far as body exposure goes, you might get an half shoulder or partial back view of a woman and with the guys maybe a half chest view. Even the bedroom scenes involve full coverage PJ sets. Incredibly wholesome and albeit cheesy it’s easy watching.
Then I discovered that not only are these Chinese actors and actresses gorgeous eye candy, they also can sing and dance. Like really sing and really dance. I guess when your population is so huge to be “crème of the crop” you have to be outstanding in so many different ways.
Then I found the lad I want to adopt. I want to cook him wholesome dinners every night and give him a dozen hugs a day. He is beyond adorable. His back story is heart breaking. Growing up in rural China he and his sister were left alone as children to fend for themselves while their parents worked in the City. He talked about being hopeful their chickens would lay an egg so they could eat. Awwwwwwwww. He is also tiny in size, 161 cms, no doubt in part due to poor nourishment. His voice also never really broke and he was bullied mercilessly for that and his tiny size. Somehow he got into singing and was discovered. He went on one of those Chinese Talent shows called “Super Vocal” and in the beginning he was so shy and nervous he was criticized heavily. Poor mite, he was so upset and crying. This talent show was like 30 Chinese guys, no girls, however the way they just gathered him up and consoled him was beautiful. He went on to improve and gain confidence and now is a star. Well deserved.
His voice is beyond interesting and I mean that. Imagine what an angel sounds like, that’s him.
So go to You Tube, put in the name “Zhou Shen” and check out his “Memories” as in “Cats” video.
