Monkey Pie, over the years they have had a lot of fun and inexpensive jewelry. What kind of camera do you have? I have a Pentax K10d and have been thinking about getting a digital macro lens. I have a macro lens for my old Pentax K1000 SLR but would like a digital macro lens for it as well. I have the standard zoom lens that came with the camera and I bought a telephoto zoom lens for it but it didn''t come with a macro of all things. CRAZY! I can do great close up shots of flowers, etc but it''s difficult to get really closeups of jewelry with my camera.
I used to work at a photo shop and take photos for friends. I love taking photos and one of my favorite things to photograph are flowers. I was trying to find one I took ot a dahlia last summer with a bee on it but it must have been on my old laptop because I can''t find any of my flower shots. Rats. Sigma are good lenses; I was just looking yesterday at macros for my camera. My standard zoom lens at 55mm can get within about 12 inches and if I use aperture priority I can get pretty good shots of jewelry using a tripod. I have one of those killer Bogen tripods which is so funny to put a lightweight digital camera on.Date: 12/15/2008 12:00:14 AM

I have a Nikon D60, with a couple lenses. My macro lens is a Sigma 50mm F2.8 Macro and I LOVE it. I just loathe how my ring looks up close, hah. I really want to find a new setting for my e-ring (maybe the dreaded Z-storehehe).
I have a 70-300mm which claims to be macro. It can get pretty closeup, but I have to stand like 5 feet from my subject so it isn''t terribly easy to use, which is why I opted for an actual macro lens. It''s worth the extra pennies if you use it a lot, and I do - my favorite thing to photograph is macro water droplets and flowers

So what kind of setting do you want for your e-ring?

oohh so pretty! Wow the red is really vibrant. What kind of flower is that?
I took weddings, kids and graduation photos for awhile. It is fun but since it was always for friends or family it made me nervous that I would mess something up. The reason I went with the Pentax digital SLR is because all of my old K1000 lenses will work with it. Some of those lenses need the Bogen tripod. I would sell jewelry before I''d sell that tripod.Date: 12/15/2008 12:21:02 AM

I really wish I could link you to my photostream but the site is forbidden :/ Oh well.
I am currently saving up to buy a D700 come the new year. I want to eventually get into photography professionally so I want to have all the equipment I need to learn. My husband bought me an SB-600 flash for our anniversary today and I have been playing with it. SO much fun! Eeee I want a Bogen tripod now too! LOL my poor cheap one can barely hold up my camera at this stage, so once I get a BIGGER camera it will just fall down and die.
I want something really delicate and dainty when I get a new setting. The ring I have now is all thick and wide, and if my hands swell at all it''s very uncomfortable. I wanted an emerald cut for my center stone too but I have really been leaning towards a cushion lately. I think I like something like this.

We do star gazing and when it''s cloudy we''ll have photon wars - we shot a flash off down the tube of a telescope and it sends out this big flash of light that you can blind people with. it''s light giant headlights in your face. It''s FUN!
This ring is lovely; one of my friends at work has something like that with a PC stone. It is really nice. I''ve been starting to get away from RB to EC or cushion cut. I was an oval girl for years, then went round and now I am venturing off in other directions. We go to a watch shop that DH likes to look at and everytime I am there I try on their 3 stone EC 6.5 ct diamond ring. It is GORGEOUS. I don''t know what it costs but they told me one time if I buy the ring my husband can have any watch he wants - I quickly returned it before I broke it.

Monkey Pie. Happy First Anniversary! That is awesome. Taking model shots for practice sounds like great fun. The worst photo shoots I ever did was my nephew and his friends HS pictures and a wedding. The wedding was at high noon in the mountains with nothing for shade - ewww to bad shadows. The HS photos I told them to get there before 7:30 so we''d have good light but the girls got around so late they didn''t show up until you guessed it about noon. Again we were in a place with very little shade and the sun was blaring. Rats. Most of my photo shoots turned out pretty good but I only did it for fun. I hope you do become a world famous photographer; that would be cool.
When I first was going to upgrade my ering I wanted a heart shape but it just didn''t sparkle enough and ended up keeping that one for a RHR. I started doing research and found you get the most bang for your buck in a round so that is what I ended up getting and love it. Then I went on a round binge for awhile but now I am venturing off in other directions. I like trillions, radiants, emerald cuts and cushion cuts. It is funny how tastes change. I was bored this morning as I am home sick and was waiting for a garage door repairman so I took some photos of my rings. I will post them in a while and start a new thread. They didn''t turn out too bad.
