Hi all! I never post here, but am a long time lurker. Today I have been brought out of lurkdom by my new purchase. It was actually purchased for me by my DH as my push present for our second baby girl, due in August. The stone was originally bought by a PS'er, then bought by ErikaM, and now it mine!! I am so excited to have this stone!! From the first time I saw it, I thought it was TDF. But now comes the fun part...setting! I am at a bit of a loss though, so if you have any inspiration pics you might want to share, please do share. I am open to platinum or rose gold, or both... And do think it needs some sort of additional sparkle. But pave or larger stones, I just don't know. How would you set this baby, if it were yours?

and you rec'd a very lovely "push" present.

i'm not a halo fan.
many here are.
i think a well cut stone with good color can exist w/o a halo.
i also think a halo could be cumbersome while taking care of two kids.....but, hey, did i mention i don't like halos and therefore just might be a wee bit prejudiced?!

one option would be have it set as a pendant until you later decide if you want a ring and what style of setting you'd like.
i'm also fond of the pendant idea as your fingers are going to be a different size now and after August......mine certainly did an up/down size thing when pregnant many years ago.

are you thinking white or yellow gold? might i suggest 18k red/pink gold?

again, welcome.....but beware: color stones are addictive!
 
What are the dimensions of the tourmaline? Depending on its size, it might be better to set it one way versus another. I also think it will be quite deep, so will end up quite high when set.
Will this be an occasional wear ring or are you planning to wear it more often? Tourmalines are best as occasional ring stones, otherwise, you can wear it everyday as a pendant.
Do you have a picture of it against the hand? I am leaning towards rose gold to bring out the blush colour.
 
Thank you for the welcome! I am not generally a halo lover either and I think they are done, a lot. But the stone is softer, so protecting it a little may not be a bad idea... I am not so much a bezel lover though either. The stone is 9.6mm, and the seller is just shipping now, so I won't have it for a few day. Unfortunately DH says I can't see it until August. So I am going to have to hunt it down and sneak some pics after he recieves it and hides it on me, lol. I like the idea of rose gold, or 2 toned rose with platinum. I prefer plat to w/g for the heft, but also , I have a nickle allergy so unless it is nickle free, I can't wear it. This would not be an everyday wear piece for me. I generally wear nothing at home and only put on rings to go out. And as the stone is on the bigger side, I think it will be more of a special occasion ring. :)
 
Hopefully these will help a little bit. Its almost a silvery pink, so I'd vote pink/rose gold or white metal.

These aren't the greatest for showing color, but I chose them for size and they make Barry's cutting look great!

Is this from the same rough? Or is it the same stone?? I LOVE it!! White metal, with a rose gold head is kind if the way I am leaning right now. Thank you for the pics!!!!!

I was thinking the same thing as far as metals. You're welcome for the pics. I have a few more, but they aren't as nice.
 
Beautiful stone, I love this cutting in a delicate colour like yours.
 
I'd do a two tone - rose gold around the stone with platinum shank to play up the pale pink.
