Too cute!! I wish I could take the grey one. Thanks for having a kind heart and compassion for 4-footed critters.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! How do you give them back!!!! They''re so cute! The little orange one seems camera shy...all I see is butt, no head.

So the mama cat isn''t yours either? You''re taking care of the whole family? How did that happen?

Again...sooooooooooooo CUTE!

Aaaaawwwwwww!! Tooo cute!!! I love kitties!! How did you get to be the proud step-mommy??

None of them are mine I''m just taking care of them. They make very good house guests :). I foster every year during kitten season for the San Francisco SPCA. Around this time of year they have sooo many kittens and mothers with kittens that the shelters become too crowded. So people like myself take on a family or a few kittems until the kittens are eating cat food and weigh enough, usually at about 8 weeks. Then the whole family will go up for adoption. These kittens are only two and a half weeks old. They opened their eyes this weekend but aren''t walking yet. The mother is very thin so I''m working hard to put some weight on her.

They''re only 2-1/2 weeks old??? Awww...When I adopted my first cat from the ASPCA, they told me it was an 8-week old female (which was what I was looking for)...I took it to the complementary vet appointment to get it checked out....SHE was really a HE and was only 6-weeks old!! He was so much smaller than your 3 little ones....

What a great volunteer opportunity! Don''t you ever get "too attached?"

Well I''m so used to having to give them back at this point. But the first time I fostered it was hard to give them back. It''s fun to watch them go through all those cute kitten changes. These are going to start walking soon.

Only six weeks, wow thats young for being adopted. I wonder if your kitty was a runt?

Ohhh, they are adorable! I love cats. I have my own indoor brood and also have a feral colony that likes to hang around my house. Hmm could it be because I feed them? I was hoping to try and find a spay and release program for them but I think it''s already too late. I applaude

you for helping with them.

Oooh, these little babies are so soft, warm, and cuddily looking.

I love kitties too. . . I only have one right now because my other cat passed away last summer

, but she has a lot of attitude so she''s like 10 cats packed into one little gray coat and thus keeps us on our toes.

innerkitten, what a good heart you have! I find myself only able to donate to our local rescue societies because I just become too attached and it breaks my heart! my four kitten-kids are all rescues... Momma sure is a beautiful calico and looks like a very good girl....let us know when those babies start to walk- I love when their little low-rider bellies get in the way! thanks for sharing with us! anytime you can make an animal''s life a little easier you earn some good mojo points with the powers that be!

They are soooooo cute!

I don''t think he was a runt, as I saw he had 2 other brothers & 3 sisters and they were all about the same size...I did learn with him how important it is to get a kitten that''s properly weaned!! They can become violent as kittens without the proper weaning...my DH and I went through a lot trying to calm our "vampire" down and finally had to resort to medications...but he took to it well and now at 7 years old, he''s a character!!!

innerkitten,
They are soooo cute, that is so nice of you to foster them.

Thanks. I will try to get a photo of the orange one when my fiance gets home since the little orange guy didn''t get to be in either of the photos.

OMG, look at that adorable face, too cute!! I love cats and used to have several growing up. I can''t have them now as my son is severly allergic to them and makes his asthma act up. We have two Bichons and he is fine with them. It''s something about cat dander that really makes him a mess. Thanks for sharing these adorable pictures and for doing such a nice job fostering these cutie pies!!

i really admire people like you who can do this and get them socialized so they will make good family cats once they are adopted out. homeless cat network in san mateo, pets in need in redwood city, all the spca''s and various cat help groups need people who can do what you do.

i can''t do it...that''s why i have nine cats!

peace, movie zombie

Wow - I love it that you ''foster''! Is there a little black one hiding there, too? Can you possible get a shot of him? In our area people try to give away 6 week old kittens all the time. Mine, in fact, was 6 weeks when she was offered in the newspaper (mother cat left them on a doorstep and vanished). TINY! The biting, though, is how young cats ''play'' with each other - no harm meant. It does take a while for them to grow out of it!

Thank you from all of us who can only ''donate'' to the shelters right now!

aww. I used to have a cat that looked almost JUST like that mama cat.. and the kittens are just too cute for words.

AW, they are SOOO cute! And I admire you for taking care of them :) Good job!

Innerkitten,

You are doing SUCH a wonderful thing!! I wish I had the time to do what you''re doing.

One of my two cats was a rescue... and she is the MOST amazing little lady ever. She was found at 8 months old with a litter of kittens. The kittens were easy to adopt out. But since mama was an older kitten, she was unwanted.

She transitioned from ''street life'' to ''princess life'' very easily.

I wish more people would look into adopting the parents of these litters! They are phenomenal cats.

That is awesome innerkitten! I''m with movie zombie, I don''t think I could foster, I would end up with a house full of cats and no room for me or my fiance!

I think it''s great that you can offer your home for some very deserving cats and kittens. Thanks from one cat lover to another!

That''s great you take them in. At this point in their life human contact is so important to make them well adjusted house kitties. Warms my heart!

Awww! Cute, cute, cute! A kindred spirit......I love animals......Dogs, cats, lizards, horses, raccoons......squirrels....birds.....Good thing I don''t live in the country, huh? I''ve got a houseful now....

For all the animal lovers out there who want to do something fun to help out, I'm posting links to a few 5k races in the metro Washington, DC area.

Run Like a Feral Cat (hee, funny name!) in Prince George's, MD: http://www.pgferals.org/dynapage/display?PageID=361

Poplar Springs Animal Sanctuary in Wheaton, MD (my sister sponsors a sheep and a chicken there):
http://www.animalsanctuary.org/events/run.html

Washington Animal Rescue League's Mutts' Strut in DC (same day as the Poplar Springs race):
http://www.warl.org/events/index.php

I'm most likely running at least the Poplar Springs race and probably the Feral Cat (hee) race, so if anyone is interested in running also, we could meet up!

TOO CUTE!!!

My family has always had dogs, but one summer while i was in college i went to a huge amusement park and when we were leaving, there was this tiny little black kitten under my car. We got him to come out and i took him home! He sat on the center console the entire 45 minutes home just checking out the view. He ended up being only 5 weeks old and i took care of him the rest of the summer and then one of my fathers secretarys adopted him because i was living in the dorms. I dont think i have any pictures of him
7.gif
but he was a blast!

If running isnt your thing, but chocolate is, the SPCA in Fredericksburg, VA (hour south of DC, also a no-kill shelter) is having its 3rd annual Chocolate Extravaganza Saturday. Ive never been, but it seems like it would be fun.

They also have a Rescue Run.

MORE PICS! MORE PICS!

I am deathly allergic to cats. As soon as I get near one I break out into hives and my eyes swell shut. Neither allergy meds or shots can prevent it. I can go to a house that had cats in it 3 years ago and still have an allergic reaction... (which is funny becuase this deos not happen with anything, food, hayfever etc except horses.

But I love them and they are so cute and they look like they would be so soft... my ideal pet. My daughter asked me what I was going to do the first day I was in heaven... I told her (and this is definetly my plan) That I am going to stick my face into the soft fur on the neck of a beautiful coft warm kitten and listen and feel it purr against my cheek.... (sigh)

Oh they are just adorable!!

Well, bless your heart missy! The fact that you''re taking them in just to give them back makes what you''re doing that much more amazing! Do you have other cats? How do they react?
