I bought the rough on an online auction, sent it to a cutter (Top Notch Faceting) and ended up with the stone in the pic.

4.23 cts natural unheated zircon from Madagascar 9mm x 7mm

Would a east west setting look ok? I need setting ideas. I'm more of a simple girl so no diamonds in the setting please.

Really pretty - this is a great example of half and half shadowing/extinction or whatever else you want to call it that IMO does not detract from the stone at all. I love that its a radiant or emerald cut and the faceting is awesome!

I think EW in a yellow gold bezel would be beautiful and give it a little more protection since it is not the most durable stone.

Pretty stone! Cutting is wonderful.

Beautiful! I like the idea of east-west orientation - a pendant? Or are you thinking a ring?

I was thinking ring for this one. I have a larger piece of rough that I was thinking pendant. But I'm not sure yet. I may nix the ring idea all together and go for 'a' pendant and sell one stone. The other piece of rough is slightly larger than the rough this one came from but looks slightly more peachy in the picture. (It's at the post office now, I haven't picked it up yet.) Or, I may go for ring, pendant and try to get more matching rough for matching earrings. LOL

I never dreamed this gem would come from the piece of rough I had. I'm very happy!

Here's the rough it came from:

This is my newest rough of zircon. 15 cts:

That is GORGEOUS. I love zircon. East West setting would look great on this, maybe with split prongs on the corners? Have you thought about rose gold at all?

OR - a mix of white and rose gold might look really cool on this, to give it some extra flair if you don't want diamonds in the setting.

So pretty and unusual. I also think EW setting will make it pop.

If your finger can handle the length set EW, why not?
