My New Princess Cut 3 Stone Ring

I just found this forum yesterday after I wanted to learn more about the ring my husband bought for me for my late birthday/early Christmas present. I''m very excited about it, as I finnally have a diamond after 5 years of marriage!!

I have a few pictures to post but this first one is just the ring in it''s box..

Ring Specs:
3 Diamonds Princess Cut
Center stone is .33 carat
Side stones are .20 carats
Total weight .53 carats
Color: H
Clarity: SI3? Eye clean, only one white spot with a 10x loupe
Platinum setting
Size: Should be 3.5 but it feels big on me, not sure if it''s really a 4.

My mom saw it the other day for the first time and she thought that it was 1 carat total weight.. but I told her it wasn''t.. I guess it just looks like it because I have tiny fingers.. Like I said it still feels big and I may try to have them take it down some more.. but I''m thinking they took it down as small as they could and hoped that it would do.. This isn''t the first time it has happened to me.. lol.

Yes I''m very small in general.. I''m 4''6" and my previous ring was a 3, but I thought I would try 3.5 because I''ve gained a little bit of weight recently.. but I''m wondering if I''m really closer to 3.25 or maybe just that this ring isn''t really sized down far enough.. but I don''t know.. I haven''t been back to the jewelers to talk to them about it..

I don''t want to give my ring up again for sizing!! lol!

Yea, I hear ya about giving the ring up for a few days for sizing. My diamond didn''t have a GIA/EGL cert when we bought it on Sat. because it was so "new" so they offered to send it in for specs, and I just wanted to wear it so I said "No, I''ll come back later for that!"

How sweet. It looks so big on your hand, I can''t believe it''s only weight is only .53! It''s a very pretty design, and it'' great that you love it so much.

I would have the size checked, though. I had to have my ring resized a few times to feel like it fit properly, and it looks like I have to resize my wedding band again, too.

Do you guys have any ideas about wedding bands that would look good with this ring? I''m thinking I might have to have it custom made to match.. but if there is something that could be bought to go with it that would be good too. I really want it to sit flush.. I tried it on at the store with a few different bands and it really bothered me that they didn''t sit together because of the prongs on my e-ring..

I have no idea if I want one with stones or without.. but if I did go for stones I''m really hoping to find something with blue sapphires.

I told my husband that he can pick the next ring.. but offering him some hints wouldn''t be so bad ; )

If you want a wedding band to sit 100% flush, you might have to have something custom made. But - make sure that the gap actually bothers you. I say that because I had my original set soldered together, because I wanted them 100% flush. When I got my new set, I tried to get them to sit 100% flush, and it just wasn''t happening. And you know what.... I don''t even notice. *shrug* It''s a very personal thing, but I think that I personally got caught up in the mentality that they HAD to sit flush, and when I found the right band.... it didn''t matter.

So basically I''m saying try to try on a bajillion and eight bands before you have something custom made.

I''ll poke around and see what I can find in the way of fun bands!

If you have an issue with the band sitting flush your might consider getting a spacer band that sits under teh prongs and then get the band you really want.

Thank you so much for searching this out for me.. I really like that one.. I still think it would bother me that it didn''t sit flush.. but atleast the stones match.. that was another issue I had with some that I tried on..

I think you''re right though that I would just need to try on a bajillion bands and see if any of them would work for me.. Or maybe I''ll just let go and really let my husband pick whatever he wants.. I hinted that I wanted a band for our next anniversary but he was acting like he was going to wait a really long time.. he said something about "Maybe for our 10th!"

Hopefully he is just messing with me..

I never can tell with him. lol.

Is it weird to just wear this one by itself when I''m actually married? It feels kindof weird to me.. but it sure is shiny and it''s definitely a lot more ring than what I had before. Most of the commercials they show for 3 stone rings just show them being worn alone.. so I don''t know.

Don''t worry.. I''ve already told my husband that I can''t stand it anymore.. It''s REALLY bothering me! I watch it all the time but I don''t think it''s going to fall off.. I''m planning on taking it back in this week.. I''ll miss it.. but it needs to fit right!

Such is the life of the tiny woman.. lol.
