My new ring is here!!

Beautiful setting - I love the sheer amount of presence that it has!
Call me really old school (or even medieval) if you will, but I prefer a ring that has some meat on the shank.

Me too!! It’s hard to find them in stores anymore. I had to have it made to get the chunky look

fashion will swing back in our favour as all the skinny band rings have to be reset

I think it’s lovely - it looks solid, unfussy and substantial, which is how I like jewellery.

I’m right there with you on the chunky, thick shank!!

I also prefer the “overall” look of the ring vs just the stone being the center of attention.

Don’t get me wrong…..I love the diamond to be the center of attention but “I” just need “extra” in terms of the overall look.

I mean, you can have a small stone and still have an amazing ring if it’s done right.

My stone isn’t overly large at all, being 1.69ct but the setting (shank, etc.), make the entire ring so much more to me.

And……I don’t mind at all that it’s not the skinny, in style band. The skinny bands look terrible on my finger. The bigger, thicker bands look much more balanced for me. Perhaps someone with tiny fingers, it would be too much though.

I think it’s always best to go with what looks best on you instead of doing what is “in style” at the moment.

It's absolutely gorgeous - I too love substantial settings. To me, they look luxurious and high quality, like someone has taken the time to make a piece that will last and not skimped on the precious metal!

Hello,
I would love everyone’s opinion on my new ring. It is a 1.69ct G color, SI2 round diamond. I had the setting custom made because I can never find thick, substantial settings anywhere.
The setting is 14k white gold and 3.25mm wide x 2.5mm thick.
I am currently having a full eternity band made to match, which will be 3mm wide x 2.5mm thick. I will add those pictures when it is done in a couple of weeks.

What do you think of the setting? Too thick or wide looking? I wear a size 7.25

I love this ring, and I can't say it any better than rainydaze so I'm copying: Your ring hits that mark to perfection! Beautifully balanced metal to diamond ratio, soooo flattering to your hand, lush metal, and a beautiful profile to top it off. The diamonds is still the star of the show, with the metal drawing the eye toward it in the most scrumptious way.
And as you said, it's a ring. Not a stone on a wire. And as for any asymmetry, I wouldn't mess with it, I can almost imagine I see it.
Love it!! Can't wait to see the band.
