If you've seen any of my previous posts you'll know I love halos. An old mine cut in a vintage inspired milligrained halo has long been a dream of mine, and lab diamonds have made that dream a reality.
I purposely made this setting a tiny bit thicker than my other halos which are very delicate and thin (as I've grown older, I've found that I like chunkier jewelry!) but not too thick, I think (the band is about 2.1/2.2mm for reference). Also, the diamond is about 8.5mm (cushion shape) which I didn't think would be too much larger than the 7.8mm (oec/round) in a halo that I'm used to. When the ring came in, I loved it- I was just shocked at how large it seemed! Perhaps it's that the band/halo is slightly thicker than I'm used to, or that it's a larger diamond- I just honestly didn't think less than 1mm would make that much of a difference. Boy does it!
I decided to put feelers out there for this ring but at the suggestion of @newtojewels and @snowballsmom, think I may wear it around for a while and see if I'll get used to it. What do you think? Did you ever get a ring that you felt was too large and then get used to the size? or did you feel like it was too big and end up never wearing it because of that? I know DSS is real but, and I've certainly felt it with solitaires, but I've never felt it with my halos. Is it too big? What would you do? This community has always been so helpful. Would love to hear your thoughts/experience.
Now to what we're really here for. Here's some pictures and videos:
TIA!
