My newest addition, an OMC Halo-Thoughts on size? What would you do?

If you've seen any of my previous posts you'll know I love halos. An old mine cut in a vintage inspired milligrained halo has long been a dream of mine, and lab diamonds have made that dream a reality.

I purposely made this setting a tiny bit thicker than my other halos which are very delicate and thin (as I've grown older, I've found that I like chunkier jewelry!) but not too thick, I think (the band is about 2.1/2.2mm for reference). Also, the diamond is about 8.5mm (cushion shape) which I didn't think would be too much larger than the 7.8mm (oec/round) in a halo that I'm used to. When the ring came in, I loved it- I was just shocked at how large it seemed! Perhaps it's that the band/halo is slightly thicker than I'm used to, or that it's a larger diamond- I just honestly didn't think less than 1mm would make that much of a difference. Boy does it!

I decided to put feelers out there for this ring but at the suggestion of @newtojewels and @snowballsmom, think I may wear it around for a while and see if I'll get used to it. What do you think? Did you ever get a ring that you felt was too large and then get used to the size? or did you feel like it was too big and end up never wearing it because of that? I know DSS is real but, and I've certainly felt it with solitaires, but I've never felt it with my halos. Is it too big? What would you do? This community has always been so helpful. Would love to hear your thoughts/experience.

Now to what we're really here for. :) Here's some pictures and videos:

TIA!

I think it looks beautiful!!! Not too large, at all!

OH MY GOD HAVE I EVER BLUGHT A DIAMOND “TOO LARGE” ONLY TO THINK “OH THAT’S ALL” WHEN I PICKED IT UP FROM THE JEWELER!!!!!

I’m not yelling at you lol
But yes yes yes wear it before you sell it!!!!

To quote @Rhino Jonathan, “Wear without fear.”

Not too big at all! It looks fabulous on you!

I agree with the others, not too big at all, i think it's perfect on you!

Looks beautiful on you!

Fabulous ring! Is the band a bit large on you?

Thank you so much @MamaBear @Niel @0515vision @Kim N @Inked @HS4S_2 @Ibrakeforpossums ! This is making me feel much better about it! Seems like it's just in my head and I need to give it some time

@0515vision LOVE that quote you shared!

@Kim N your pink halo is nothing short of stunning! an inspiration piece in so many ways

@Ibrakeforpossums it's a little bit large- so some spinning- but my hands tend to swell a lot in the summer so I sized up a bit to accommodate that

Makes sense, nothing worse than having to take off a ring and removing half your knuckle. Also, that baby is so well-endowed it can only spin a few degrees.

Gosh, I really love it on you and think the size is totally proportional (for a PSer lol). I think the stone is amazing and wonder if it doesn’t work out, if you have considered resetting it if the halo is too much for you? You can likely rehome the halo and put that stunner in a soli or bezel.

Holy smokes that's a gorgeous ring and diamond!!! :kiss2: I would definitely wear it awhile to see if you adjust at all to the size of it.

My first engagement ring was a beautiful 1.5ct elongated cushion in a Victor Canera halo. I thought it looked huge and flashy, and I had anxiety wearing it at first. I adjusted in time. My second engagement ring is a 2ct oval that I got three years ago. It's in a hidden halo setting. It didn't feel too big when I got it, but I remember thinking I would never want to go bigger than a 2ct oval. Now it's three years later and I'm thinking about selling the natural 2ct oval and getting a 3ct lab oval. Diamond shrinkage is a real thing.

It’s beautiful.

I think it’s absolute perfection on your hand!

It looks perfect on your hand! Enjoy!

Thank you so much @Slickk @vintage diamond @caf @jaqjaqjaq & @ksage92 ! I so appreciate your input and everyone else’s. I'm also thankful for the suggestion to hold off on listing it.

@Slickk you know I hadn't considered that but now that you mentioned it, I think that may a good option if I don't get used to the size. I know lab diamonds are a lot more readily available now but it still takes some time to find a good one and I feel I've lucked out with this one so it won't be as easy to replace. I've also always loved an OMC in a bezel. Such a classic stunning look.

@vintage diamond thanks for sharing your experience! so helpful to hear and I hope that's the case for me too as I wear it around more because I really do love it. Your rings sound stunning! Also, I'm biased because my 3 carat lab diamond oval is my daily driver, but if your considering it, I say go for it!, I don't think you'll regret it!

@JV36912, This ring looks gorgeous on you!!! Please wear it for a while before you make a decision to list it. You have a wonderful eye for picking beautiful stones.

Thanks so much @Calliecake. The more I wear it, the more I get used to the size! I hope my other halo don't start to feel small on me tho!
