Thought this might be of some interest to the old cut lovers on here.
These earrings actually started out as an antique brooch that was modified to earrings and a ring. We purchased the earrings at
an antique show about 15 years ago. They are all OMC diamonds set in platinum with what seems to be about K color stones.
I have worn them and enjoyed them but as my hair is medium length now you never see them on me. My niece actually borrowed them for her wedding this past March.
My son is getting married in November and I wanted to wear them as well . I think they would hide behind my hair so decided since they were not in their original form now anyway that I would try to modify them to longer earrings.
There was a local dealer here who had a selection of OMC diamonds that match up well enough to do the project. There will be a .5 ct stone at the top with four .15-.20 stones added below that, each in a bezel to match the earring and then a .7 ct stone dangling from the bottom to make the earring 2.5 inches long.
I have included a picture of my niece wearing them as they are now to show size. Also a picture although not so great of the first step in picking the diamonds. He promised me that they would all match in color pretty close and be of VS clarity. They will be done in platinum and should be ready in about two weeks. He said his bench person is really good. I am trusting him. I will post pictures of the finished earrings later.
