This weekend, while I normally do not wear either, I bought some new foundation and lipstick I thought might be perfect for my wedding. When I got home I started playing around and here is the result.

Liner and heavier mascara on the eyes, with a neutral color on the lids. Flattering neutral pink blush and pink lipstick. the makeup isn''t really as shiny as it looks in the photos -- that is just the fault of the camera flash

There is a spa at my wedding venue -- so I do have the professional option -- BUT, since I really don''t wear a lot of makeup and i really don''t want to feel overly done/fake, i''m considering just doing it myself. thougts?

(sorry for the strange angles, lighting but it''s hard to self-photograph)

I think it looks great and very natural! And wow! You have gorgeous eyes!!

ditto. you look nice and natural. i would suggest that you go a little darker w/the lipliner/lipstick especially on the top lip b/c it seems like it was blended away (blotting maybe?). Very natural.

Wow, you did a great job!!! I wish I could do my own makeup that well! My only suggestion would be to maybe wear some gloss on your lips, over the color. It really makes a difference and looks great in photos. Nice work!!

I think it looks great lovelylulu.

I agree with everyone else...looks great! You''re eyes are beautiful and I think that coppery color of shadow really sets of your eye color beautifully. I would add a bit more to the lips though.

thanks for the feedback!

I agree about the lips -- i did put on a gloss, but apparently it wears off pretty quickly. I have never ever used a lip liner, but perhaps i''ll give it a try. what about lip liners helps the lipstick stay on longer?

I''m also considering curlygirl''s suggestion in another thread to try some false lashes -- i''m thinking the individual kind because i don''t want to look campy.

I think you look really nice, I like the natural look too, and I like the way you do your makeup. I would line the eyes a little more with a smoky liner and definitely use a pretty gloss. Put a thin layer of lipstick and then a gloss over it, it gives the gloss something to adhere to...Have you ever tried Trish McEvoy or Bobbi Brown products? They both make some beautiful glosses that would go well with your skin tone...

thanks dani -- i agree that a little more liner would look good. it''s funny about your recommendations -- because the makeup i just got and used for the photo is bobbi brown. i''m a fan!

Yeah, I love her products...I thought it kind of looked "Bobbi-ish" lol. But seriously, try Trish McEvoy too. I am telling you, if I wasnt a nurse, I would be a makeup artist....I am SO INTO this stuff!!!

I think you look really pretty! The look is very natural and your skin looks dewy. Did you see if the make-up lasted atleast four hours? Your make-up lasting is really important and also how the camera picks up the make-up too.

That looks awesome! I love the natural look, and I am a huge fan of Bobbi Brown products as well. Which of her foundations are you using, if you don''t mind me asking?

You look spectacular!
Great job, and very natural looking. I really like what you did with your eyes.
I''m a fan of the more subtle lip stick look, especially if you don''t usually wear it.

very pretty!! It looks super natural. I *might* got w/more on the eyes- maybe a tad darker or thicker liner and more eyeshadow? not sure if you put any one. I think you have such pretty eyes you ought to emphasize them more!!

I''m not sure how you feel about it but you mentioned the makeup looks shinier in photos- if this bothers you, you might want to think about trying a different foundation if you''re really into photos, bc there prob will be a lot of photos your wedding day, and you don''t want to look too shiny in all of them...

And my photographer also mentioned that a tad darker makeup than usual helps sometimes, bc in a white wedding gown oftentimes the color on the face is easily washed out... and I''m not sure what time of day you wedding is, but when I did my makeup trial, I really wanted the light makeup, and it looked great in the afternoon but at night it didn''t look so good bc it was too light... so I would try wearing the makeup all day and seeing how it holds up and looks in different lighting.

You look great. I don''t think you need more darker lipgloss, if you are going to line the eyes more and do smoky eyes. But if you are keeping the eyes as it, then I would do a darker lipgloss.

About fake lashes - have you ever used any? From my experience, I have a hard time using the individual kind. It takes a lot of time. I prefer the full lashes, but pick the natural looking kind with different length lashes. I think that would be easier and less stressful on your wedding day.

I think it looks great & very natural. (You are indeed quite lovely, btw.

) I think you could go a bit darker with the lipgloss if you like, but this color looks great too. Did you set the foundation with powder? That might help with the shine.

As for long wearing lipsticks, I like Revlon''s colorstay overtime lipcolor. It has a pigment which you apply first, then finish it with a gloss. It lasts a long time & really only comes off if you eat greasy food (or apply makeup remover!)

these are all really great suggestions!

The foundation is actually a compact that includes a concealor, corrector, foundation and powder. I''m a warm ivory which is the second palest tone.

I think that I could eliminate some of the shine if i had just repowdered my face before photographing -- there was a lapse of about 1.5 hours from application to picture taking...

I''ll play around with smoking my eyes up. And I think I''ll stick to the paler lip.

As far as false eyelashes. I wore them a lot during when i lived in new orleans for Mardi Gras -- they were so fun! but they definately looked fake -- i''ll look into seeing if i can find some more realistic ones that aren''t individuals.

Beautiful job! Concerning lip gloss - trust me on this one - when I first saw your photograph, I thought this would be PERFECT for you:

Pout lipgloss in "Pop My Bubble".

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P43503&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=5686

I am the lipgloss queen! I can''t help myself - anytime I pass a lipgloss display, I have to purchase some. These Pout glosses are the only ones I have ever completely used all up and repurchased. This color will be perfect with your skin.

You are a lovely lady and need little to show that...my only real suggestion other than then the smokey eye suggestion which would really show off those lovely peepers, is to use maybe a lip stain and gloss only in the center of the lips. A good lip stain doesn''t need to be reapplied as often and you can reapply gloss as needed. Just a thought...

I though I was the lipgloss queen???lol I love Pout lipgloss too- they stay on so well and give you that pretty shine!

love the natural look, my only suggestion would be to try putting mascara on your bottom lashes as well as your top, that looks awesome on some women. Love the lipstick.

Oh my gosh, you are so pretty!! You can''t go wrong doing it yourself.

I would accentuate the eyebrows, use a little bit of brow powder applied with a brush. More eyeshadow too.

Are you wearing any powder over the foundation? I think that would give it a finished and polished look, plus it will keep your face from getting shiny as the day or night goes on.

You look beautiful!!!! Great job!

I''m doing my own makeup too.

MAC has a good lip gloss called Lip Glass that is really shiny and a bit thick, so it stays on a long time. I also like their lip liners.... Your eyes are so pretty!

Thanks for all the suggestions and compliments ladies!!

I think I definately am going on a little lip gloss expedition this weekend

Lulu- you do look very lovely, indeed!

I agree with some of the other comments about possibly trying a very-slightly-darker lip color, esp. for picture purposes.

I know powder isn''t really the "in thing" at the moment, but if you are concerned about appearing shiny in pictures perhaps a very light dusting (w/ a brush not a puff) of loose, non-sparkly powder across forehead/nose/cheeks might reflect a little less light (and it always covers a multitude of sins- not that you appear to have any to hide!)

Good luck you look great!

LovelyLulu - You do look great! Love the minimal pretty look, it's very fresh.
I might try a different eye shadow color - That one looks a little yellow ochre-y on you.
I think it's a little distracting. Try a cooler more neutral brown/taupey and see how that looks.

I agree with sydneycasandra a little loose transparent powder applied with a fluffy brush is a good thing.

Have you ever tried a lip stain? Or one of the stay-put lip products BrightSpot suggested?
I love lip glosses too, but for a wedding I'd want something that stays put and won't get on anything, and I won't have to re-apply a thousand times.

Keep us updated. Pics are always good.

Someone suggested a little eyebrow powder - smashbox makes a wonderful powder and wax set!
Have you ever been to Makeupalley.com they are a little like pscope for makeup - they have forums and a huge number product reviews by vistors.

Scintillating...

I''ve heard a lot of lip stain suggestions -- Does anyone have a particular kind/brand they like. I''m not sure if i''m particularly clear on the difference between a gloss and a stain.

thanks!

I think the shade of your lips look fine in the pictures, but I do think you need to add a little more eye shadow and liner. The fake lashes will be a great finish to your beautiful eyes. Get the kind that are different in lengths. I like the MAC lashes. They look very natural and only run $9 per set and each set can be worn 8-10 times.

I also think you need a little more blush on the side of your cheekbones. That''ll play up your facial structure more. Hold your blush brush flat with your fingers and pat twice on your blush compact, then gently dab onto the side angle of where your cheekbones lie and then let go of the brush and hold regularly and blend in. You''ll get a more defined look without over doing it since you''re only putting on two pats of blush.

If you want your lipstick to last, line your lips with a neutral color (one that matches your lips and not your lipstick). Line the entire top and bottom lip, filling in the lip as well. Then apply your lipstick and to finish, only apply a dab of gloss on the center of your top and bottom lips. That makes the lip look more full and you avoid getting the "very shiny" look on your entire lip, but you still get the shiny effect on the center of the lips. That''s where you want the focus to land on anyway.

I guess I''m done...hee. You''re very beautiful so either way, it''ll turn out gorgeous! I''m thinking about doing my own makeup too, but everyone is telling me I might be too nervous the day of, so it''s better to leave it to the professionals. I''m not such a huge fan of the way my trial makeup session went. When the lady was done, I wasn''t used to the way I looked, although my fiance said I looked great.

I guess I''ll have to decide when the day gets near.
