Some of you may remember my asking for advice on my pink tourmaline last week. Well I sent it to Jerry and he is a GENIUS!!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: He just emailed the photos and said they just do not do the stone justice- he said it turned out extremely well and is quite a pretty gem!! He was able to just recut the pavillion in a supernova cut and it only lost 11.5 % weight- so still over 3ct. So here is one of the before pics and here are the ones he just sent. He managed to capture the pretty pink that eluded me when I photographed it before.

Beautiful! Love that color.

LOL, I hate to say I told you so...hahahahaha! Looks MUCH better!!! Everyone has a different opinion on the value of recutting perfectly OK gems...but I would do it any and every time that I can afford to. These professional precision-cutters add such a great element to the gem, it is worth much more to me than a couple of % points of weight. Unless it is some super valuable stone (like a Brazillion Paraiba, lol) I would always consider a precision recut.

Congrats!!! looks amazing!!!

It DOES look amazing now! Wonderful recutting job - I'm sure you are so excited now to get it back. What are your setting plans? It will look incredible in whatever you put it in!

Wow, buh-bye window! Nice work! :appl:

The improvement is astounding! Congratulations. Great illustration of what the right angles & proportions can do for a stone. I'd wear that thing on my forehead so nobody would miss it!

thanks, everyone! I just can't wait to get it back and see the difference in person. No setting plans, yet. It measures 10.2 x 8- so would probably fit in a pre fab setting when I'm ready.

What a difference! It looks awesome now!

I love Jerry at Gemart, he cut a stone for me from his rough, and it's just spectacular.

Actually, he cut 2 of them, and I passed on the paler pink tourmaline (took the stunning fuchsia one) and it's for sale on his site. He was so quick, and so reliable and nice. He's a great guy.

Your stone is gorgeous, absolutely!

Lovely improvement. I suppose the face up measurement remained the same? What are the new stats (measurement and actual carat weight)? How does it compare to the previous stats?

face up measurement is the same. 10.2 x 8 (not sure of depth) It is now 3.12ct 3.55ct previously-loss was only 11.5%!!

Thanks - I don't know how I missed this! Great recut. You were right to question it in the first place; this is a great example of the help this board provides. I would be thanking Gene big time for suggesting that a recut of the last three tiers on the pavilion would make the difference!

Jerry did a great job. Every recut I have seen of his has been phenomenal!
