Glad you decided to help him relocate; definitely lean on the college to reduce the fee... you have some very good reasons!

As someone who had some horrible room mates (in an apartment, not a dorm- my college was smallllll) it can be very very expensive to feed a deadbeat room mate and all his buddies. And if someone is that disrespectful of another person''s stuff, there are plenty of other things that usually go down too- like missing stuff. Lost every CD I owned, and all the small electronics like portable CD players etc.

The thing I just died laughing that turned up missing: a huge chunk of lucite with hundreds of shredded dollars in it... it was a gag gift thing that was made from real money, but I guess from retired currency or something. The shreds were teeeensy, probably not from the same bills, and the lucite was super thick.

I''m quite certain a relative of the deadbeat room mate stole it thinking he''d hit the jackpot, then probably spent endless frustrating hours doing nothing but destroying it trying to get the money out. That was very satisfying to imagine!
HAHAHA, I imagined this too, and it made me laugh out loud!!!

Your roommate stories are hilarious and scary at the same time LOL

He called me this morning and said that he finally got a full night''s rest for the first time since moving on campus.

Apparently his new roomie is a basketball player who has to be up early for practice so he goes to bed early. And he has already invited my brother to go running with him. My brother used to be very overweight (about 50-60lbs) and over the last year he''s lost almost all of it by eating right and exercising so he''s excited to have a running buddy.

It was a good move for him. Hopefully it all turns out well.

YAY! Yo'' bro is bringin'' sexy back!

SWEET! I AM SOOO HAPPY THAT THIS WORKED OUT!!! YIPPEE!

Bad college roommates are the *worst*. I totally sympathize. If I were him, I''d probably move into the triple if money is a concern. I know plenty of people who lived in triples and even quads who had a fine time. It''s more about the people than how many there are, so if I he likes the people and they seem nice and clean, etc, I''d go for that. And I absolutely wouldn''t remain in the room with the horrible roommate!

OMG...the old roomie and his buddies sound nightmarish for sure! I think that your brother made the right decision by moving...he will be better off!
