I love sapphires and my daughter loves purple, so I decided to get a purple sapphire ring. I searched for months for the right stone. I found that other people have very different ideas on what purple is. Most were more lilac/lavender coloured, with a grey or blue tone, whereas I was looking for a rich purple with red tones. CecileRaley Designs has a lovely one but it's too expensive. I contacted Jeff Davies and JuliaB. Jeff had none and Julia's didn't grab me enough.
I saw this purple sapphire on loupetroop and just kept going back to it. The colour is amazing. It's not very big, but my ring fingers are only 3.5 US or 4.75 so I don't need it to be. I don't mind heated stones but it's a bonus that it's untreated.
Since I've read good things about Caysie I decided to get her to make the ring as well. It's going to be the Anne style halo with no stones on the shoulders, in 14k rose gold.
She just sent me the CAD design of a size 3.5 and 4.75 ring. I wanted to see if it would look more substantial on a smaller finger. I was surprised that it doesn't look much different.
Which size do you guys think? It's not going to replace my wedding ring set so it would have to be a right hand ring. My concern is that 3.5 is such a small size it would not be easy to resize if I wanted to sell it or pass it on.
