Ok, so my RD is a little different from the norm, but FI and I are so excited about it! We''re going to a catfish restaurant down on a bayou... it''s the complete opposite from the elegant country club wedding the next day, but it''s completely authentic and fabulous and we can''t wait to share it with our friends.

Some of you may remember my FMIL''s problem with it last fall, but we''re doing it anyway....

So my question is, is this wording for the invite too cheesy?

Before Sum & M Say "I DO",
Join Us for a Party on the Bayou!

Oh, here is a pic I took of the bayou the restaurant sits next to! I want to do it in bluescale behind the wording.

And here is the ultra-upscale fancy schmancy dining establishment!

(causal attire suggested)

wait, down on the bayou? that''s my neck of the woods

wording: totally appropriate in this instance. especially if it''s not the norm for the guests.

JCrow - This is Mercer Bayou in Doddridge, Arkansas. It''s very close to Louisiana but I''m sure my guests will think we''re in your state! Especially since we''re taking a bus! Don''t want them getting lost. No feeding groomsmen to gators!

Hee...how about FMILs?

I think that''s a great idea for the invite!

too funny! thanks for clearing that up.
so, now it''s a resounding YES! on the wording!

Thanks! And Selkie... if I can get her a little close to the edge, do you think anyone would care if I pushed her in? I''m guessing NO!

I love the idea of doing your RD at a catfish place. It does sound completely different from your wedding, and I think the balance is good. Kick back and relax the night before and then put on the fancy dress the following day...perfect!

That''s what we''re going for! M was SO excited when he came up with the idea and it''s received rave reviews from everyone who has ever been to the restaurant, and a few others that can imagine it.

I think it is cute! Another idea (not that you were asking) would be to print the photo as is on cardstock and print the wording on vellum (and overlay it) I am a sucker for that look. That way you won''t lose all the color in the photo as well.

Love the idea.... and LOVE the pic and wording too!! It sounds like so much fun and the perfect complement to an elegant wedding the following day. Can I come??

Cheesy - yup

Appropriate - totally!

Makes a great contrast with the formal structure of the following day!

I vote yes to both wording and design.

Sum-
I LOVE it!!
the photo will be perfect
and that RD sounds like a great time. the wording is great- go for it!
lol about fmil''s going over the edge.

i''ll race ya- mine will probably love the giant margarita glass invites i''m sending out for our oh-so-classy mexican fiesta RD. It''s either those or dancing chili peppers, 3D tacos, you get the picture

Thanks ladies!!! YEA!!!

And Tacori-- I LOVE the idea of the full color pic and the vellum overlay. We''re doing about 60 of them, so it shouldn''t be that hard to do... then they have a souvenir pic of the bayou! I bet my photographer friend can get us a good deal on the prints too.

Labbie - If I got a Margarita glass invitation I would be there in a heartbeat! Sounds fab!

Do you have access to a nice laser printer? You can buy pre-cut card stock (white, cream, shiny, matte, even silver or gold hints) and print them that way. Vellum comes in different colors as well. If you do a search on my wedding invites this is what I did. I used grommets to fasten them together but you could punch two holes and use ribbon. Do you know anyone who has their own business? I got most of my paper here. but I don''t think they sell to public BUT if you know someone with a tax ID number you can order through them (otherwise there are retail stores that carry their paper at a mark up). I like them b/c they have LOTS of colors AND are sizes (I am lazy and hate trimming paper)

Anyways, hope this helps!

Sum- LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the "prose" and pic.

Kudos for planning what will be a fun and memorable RD!

Please do post the finished invite.
