My Sapphire in the Sun - FINALLY

So CSers, my sapphire looks really killer outside, both in shade and in direct sunlight. It's really easy to photograph it in the shade. And equally as hard to photograph it in direct sun - it always comes out looking black. I read some complicated explanation by Kenny or someone once about how the diamonds sparkle so hard in the sun they cause the camera lens to constrict and make everything look darker or something, so I guess that's what does it, but I don't really know about cameras. What I DO know is that a couple of weeks ago I managed to snap a shot that almost accurately conveys the sunlight color. And so because I still haven't gotten my sapphire reset into the ring (I was going to go today but I was sick and vomiting and so decided to stay in bed being a wimp instead), I am posting it now because I miss wearing it and the pictures are pretty.

So anyway I was pretty stoked about getting that shot, though I haven't been able to replicate it (not for lack of trying).

Lovely color!

Stay in bed! I was sick, it is not fun!

Can't wait for the reset pics! :appl:

Nice blue - and love the nails too :wink2:

Oh, wow! Speechless!

Lovely!

It's beautiful!

It's Gorgeous!

It's beautiful but for goodness sake, stay in bed and rest. Sounds like the stomach bug I had 2 weeks ago that wiped me out for an entire week. Do take care of yourself.

I got this "Sensationail" gel nail kit at Walgreens and that's what's on my nails - it actually lasts two weeks with no chips, which I love! The downside is that I suck at painting nails, and the gel polish makes my little messups last two weeks too whereas with regular polish anywhere I got on the skin peels off when it's dry. Oh well.

It's not the fun kind of reset, iLander, but the "my stone fell out oh noes" kind. So it will look the same. I tried exploring getting new prongs but it turns out it will be cost-prohibitive.

Unfortunately on NYE staying in bed was not an option - we were hosting a party! Yesterday I was convinced I was dying and just stayed in bed drinking gallons of water all day. Today I feel much better and can breathe through my nose for the first time in nearly a week!

Beautiful eye candy. I love the color of your sapphire! Hope you are on the mend.

Gorgeous stone! I can understand how you miss wearing it! Glad things are looking up healthwise too.

Did it get sent to the original bench? When will you get it back?

God that sapphire is gorgeous. In any light. It looks so rich and velvety in the sunlight pics - and it *glows* in your shade pics

There are some stones you just can't help but fall in love with - yours is one of them, for me, DiamondPerson or not! If I ever get a sapphire - one day! - I'd love one that behaves just like it.

Le sigh! That is such a gorgeous blue. Lucky woman!
I hope you feel better soon. :))

Beautiful sapphire! I hope you feel better soon.

I dont know how I missed this one...niiiiice!

Okay, I'm returning to this thread and you'll never guess why. Well your beautiful nails made such an impression that I dreamed they were mine!

In my dream, I was talking to my brother and reached out to give him something, and noticed my beautiful, shiny red nails! I was so pleased since its been years since I've had pretty nails like that (the only kind that lasts for me is acrylic; I break real nails and ruin the polish within hours). I was standing in line later this morning, my mind started wandering, and I was so pleased to remember that I had beautiful nails and was so disappointed when I looked down and realized it was all just a dream... :blackeye: :(sad

Oh, MB, that sounds just like the dream I had with the 10 carat hot pink spinel last night (it's in the catch-all thread)! Have you heard of a "happymare" - a dream so happy that when you wake up, real life is like a nightmare? They're the worst! My nails used to grow very long and strong on their own but around the time I hit 22 they stopped and became lame (I took off my polish before NYE and have already broken three nails and had to cut them down to the skin) ... I've never done acrylics but the gel polish has been a godsend. Especially since I can do it at home - I don't like other people messing with my fingers for some reason, lol.

Your sapphire looks just gorgeous here, so rich and mysterious. :naughty:
