My something blue!! (earrings)

Hi Ladies,

Sorry I have been mia for the past few weeks! I was actually on vacation. I just wanted to share a picture of my "something blue" which FI bought for me on vacation in South Africa. He is such a sweetie and is waaaay too good to me

They are drop earrings with aquamarine and tiny diamonds all around

Thanks, Hawk! I promise some ear shots in March! I sadly had to leave the earrings with FI in DC (I''m back in NY). He said it would be "safer" to just keep them there rather than travel back to NY with them. I think what he really means is, "I don''t want you wearing your earrings to the local grocery store, etc. before the wedding just because you love them so much!"

It was so sad to leave them there

K&L - I'm so sorry I missed that thread that you posted! I bet you could find something very similar here in the US

As for the price...eeeek, it makes me a little nervous saying this but they were about the equivalent of $1700 US dollars. We may have been able to get a better deal if we had looked around more, but South Africa is actually a special place to me so it had sentimntal value that the earrings are from there. Plus they were exactly what I had wanted too so I didn't want to pass them up.

Where have you looked? Is there any chance a custom jeweler could make them for you?

Edit: I just looked at your post and you have some GREAT options there! And I'm trying to just ignore that we could have gotten a much better deal here in the US....must...not...think...about...that!

I feel like I have looked everywhere, lol. I''ve been in nearly every local jewelry store (in several cities) and I''ve looked online a lot. I really haven''t seen exactly what I was looking for, which somehow is exactly like your earrings! Most of what I have seen is closer to what you paid (though I''ve been trying to ignore those options because it''s just not in my budget) Just recently I''ve been thinking more about going custom, but I''m not sure if it''s possible on my budget. K&L, I really love those!! They look so pretty! I don''t think the doughnut looks weird at all, but I bet more options will become available!

What city are you in? We have a jeweler in dc who made my ring and FI says he was very reasonable. He told me he could do whatever custom stuff we want. I could always give you his info if you are interested.

I will definitely keep an eye open here in NY to see if I see anything similar at a good deal. You will definitely find something perfect, I can feel it!
